Here is one important lesson to be learned from this, folks: Conservative principles need to be cultivated from the ground up, not the top down.

I'll say it again ...

Conservative principles need to be cultivated from the ground up, not the top down.

Look at state like North Dakota. One of the "darkest red" states in the U.S., with Republicans in control at the state level in both the legislative and executive branches. Barack Obama got something like 39% of the vote there in 2012, yet the Democratic candidate for the U.S. Senate won.

It's time to stop this crap where we have Beltway @ssholes with access to hundreds of millions of dollars in campaign cash driving the agenda all over the U.S.

That's another reason I want to get rid of the 17th unconstitutional amendment. In my state the GOP holds all 3 branches of government and the majority of our representatives in DC are republican. Yet at the same time, Detroit, Flint, and Ann Arbor repeatedly elect Stabenow and Levin who don't even begin to represent the majority in the state.

The progs were smart when they passed the 17th amendment snake oil. They knew it would lead to a lot of angry people so they made those senators untouchable through recall. Now we have senators who override their own states from the federal level. There's growing support for directional gas drilling under the great lakes in Michigan but Debbie Stabenow vows that it won't happen.

Our founders got it right will state governments choosing senators. Those senators had to represent the will of the widest cross section within the state or the state could replace them at will.
