Austin school district cancels UT play about same-sex penguin parents

A University of Texas play about two male penguin parents has ruffled feathers at the Austin school district, prompting the cancellation of 10 scheduled performances at Austin elementary schools.

Written by UT theater graduate student Emily Freeman, “And Then Came Tango” is a play about Roy and Silo, real penguins at New York’s Central Park Zoo who were given a fertilized egg and raised the hatchling, Tango, together.

UT students first performed the play for second-graders at Lee Elementary School in Central Austin in October. District officials raised concerns about age appropriateness and suspended the play, finally canceling it at the end of the month.

This is the first time the district has canceled a UT performance.

“The subject matter communicated in the play is a topic that Austin ISD believes should be examined by parents/guardians who will discuss with their elementary school age children at a time deemed appropriate by the parents/guardians,” Greg Goodman, the Austin school district’s fine arts director, said in a letter to UT’s Coleman Jennings, the head of the university’s youth theater program.

Everyone who participated in this who is employed by the district needs to be investigated to prove culpability and then fired.

Penguin (some species) males sit on the eggs and raise the chicks themselves for something like 6 months while the females are hundreds of miles away hunting.

If conservatives/Christians removed their children from the government schools tomorrow, in many counties in the U.S. the system would completely collapse. There are states where the godless government indoctrination system would totally collapse state wide.

Personally,...I don't expect God to save this nation;

1) Abortion. Honestly, millions can turn out for a chicken sandwich and conservatives can't figure out a way to legally and peaceful end abortion? Really?

2) Children who attend the godless government schools must learn to think and reason godlessly just to cooperate in the godless classroom. How could it be otherwise? And...Since government schools are a socialist-funded, compulsory, and single-payer entitlement they risk learning to look to the government as their redeemer and savior. Hey! Any government powerful enough to give them tuition-free school is powerful enough to give them **lots** of free goodies.

A LOT of people are culpable. It isn't just those who planned this abomination of a play.

Of the two issues above which is worse? With an abortion the tiny innocent flies directly to the arms of Jesus. With government schooling the child risks his eternal soul.

What liberals don't understand is we don't care what they do in their bedrooms if they're both adults. But we DON'T want them pushing their agenda on our children, in stores we show in or on shows we use to watch.

I would feel the same about heterosexual acts being forced on children in schools, in stores or on shows we watch with our kids. It's just tacky. Are liberals such control freaks that they don't understand about "forcing" others against their will? What jerks they've become... or maybe they were always that way.
