Carney: Re-elected, Obama takes aim at religious liberty
Washington Examiner ^ | 11 Nov 12 | Timothy P. Carney

As an old saw has it, "your right to swing your fist ends at the tip of my nose." The Obama administration says your right to live as a Christian ends if you go into business.

Democrats are crowing about a second Obama term, and the Left's culture-war troops are emboldened by their trouncing of social conservatives. Religious conservatives need to plant their spears and brace for the coming federal assault on religious liberty.

The Obama administration this month, in defending its health plan's contraception mandate, articulated a narrow view of the First Amendment's religious liberty protections.

TOPICS: Culture/Society
KEYWORDS:
While the white male may have been the MSM and DNCs scapegoat during this election cycle, the Catholic Church is Obama's archenemy. As one of the few large religions left in the US not bowing down to the secular state under the ghoulish leadership of the abortion-crazed Obama, the Catholic Church will be punished.

Unless, of course, you are a Muslim.

The Catholic Church may be Obama’s archenemy, but by golly, many of the Catholic population loves them some Obama. Maybe its Stockholm Syndrome.

Those are the Democrat first Catholic second ones, not unlike a lot of Jews who identify “ethnically” with Judaism but not at all with its beliefs.

It’s not just the religious aspect of the first amendment that Obama doesn’t like. The most transparent administration ever don’t care much for freedom of the press either. In fact he only condones officially approved speech of any kind.

There is a falsehood here “re elected” no one wants to say the word voter fraud much like the word impeach, seems everyone is comfortable with the outcome except the people, the majority!

Yes, it’s all a part of a totalitarian mindset.

I am hopeful that as individuals make it through the courts religious freedom will be upheld. As a catholic I cannot receive communion if I have a serious sin on my soul. So the mandate prevents me from worship. There was a decision where a Native American in their tradition had to kill an endangered species. The Supreme Court ruled in favor of the that particular individual.

The Catholic Church is not 0’s enemy. Catholics represent one of the biggest group of supporters of homosexual, abortionists, etc.

You will see several judges retire before it gets to the court...and the new judges are not going to be conservative by any standard.

That must be why they’re complying with the mandate. Oh, wait!

I’m not sure why you identify “the Catholic church” with the opinions of a group of people, many of whom self-identify as “Catholic” but never actually attend a Catholic church. The church has a body of beliefs and teachings of its own; it’s not a democracy whose positions are derived from the consensus of those who claim to be members.

IMHO, infringements on religious liberty justify civil disobedience.
