You can look at these tables and divine some of the info re natives, but natives include lots of anchor babies and 2nd generation immigrants. We have 40 million foreign born in this country and that doesn't include their US born children and grandchildren. Immigration drives around 80% of the population growth in this country. Many anchor babies receive food stamps and Medicaid. It is also worth remembering that the costs of 40% of all children born in the US are funded thru Medicaid.
Useful data set, thanks.
I really believe demographics are the problem.
Old white Republicans die and are replaced by non-whites who are voting > 70% Democrat.
Thanks for the tables. And it’s just been announced that 70.4 million were enrolled for Medicaid in 2011, about 23% of our total population.
The tables show very similar participation rates for Medicaid and Food Assistance. And now 41% of children are born out-of-wedlock, which is almost the same as the 40% births of US children which are funded through Medicaid.
And the percentages for the categories receiving Medicaid and Food Assistance are not too far below the current out-of-wedlock birthrates of Blacks 70%+, Latinos 50%+ and Whites almost 30%. Very close correlations between particiaption in the major welfare programs and illegitimacy rates.
An amazing percentage of native American heads of household, and even higher percentages of legal and illegal immigrant heads of household are receiving welfare benfits. And it will only get worse under Obamacare and continuing economic stagnation.
And the numbers we are looking at do not reflect big increases of the past several months. I plan to work with these and see what else I can find that illustrates what a high percentage of Americans (legal and illegal) are now being supported by welfare programs to some significant extent.
Deficit reduction and budget balancing is almost hopeless until this trillion dollars of annual welfare expense can be reduced by a very substantial amount. And it still getting larger instead of smaller.
