Well said.
I doubt political parties are any help here.
We are past what politics alone can fix. I haven't seen any politicians who understand how we got here well enough to understand the way out. If they do, they haven't the courage to say so out loud, and if they do, they can't get reelected. Because in the end people get approximately the government they deserve, sad to say.
We can survive corrupt governments but we can't survive a corrupted electorate.
Amen to that, dear marron, brother in Christ!
AMEN!!! for that's the simple Truth: We the People ourselves have become corrupt. That's why we say nothing when our God-given liberties are systematically stripped away from us, a supposedly free people. We figure this sort of thing only happens to "the other guy," only to find out later that ALL of us are in the target zone of a rapacious, malignant, illegitimate government. Meanwhile, we make nary a peep!
On the other hand, the one thing government cannot take away from us is the Truth. And it happens that only Truth can set us free.
Certainly, 0bama's Chicago Way, gangsta style "community organizing" is only putting us in chains. He is "the Community-Organizer-in-Chief" which is not a defined power of his office, according to Article II, Section 2.
Jeepers, I wasn't even aware that We the People were in need of "community organizing." Until recently, E Pluribus Unum was all the understanding we needed to function as a mainly peaceable, prosperous, extraordinarily creative society. Historically, Americans have gotten along quite well, thank you, simply by basically ignoring "what their neighbors are doing." IOW, "Different strokes for different folks" was a workable mechanism of public peace.
Nowadays, you can't turn around without finding someone screaming in your face about what's "wrong" with you because you don't buy into the accepted sociopolitical pieties, you must be a really bad person who needs to be restrained and/or remediated....
Hardly looks like a good prescription for maintaining the public peace. But then, 0bama isn't interested in the public peace. His goals are best met by fomenting conflict, promulgating the politics of division, of uncertainty, ultimately resulting in social chaos and economic breakdown.
Not very cheering thoughts. Oh, well....
Thank you ever so much, dear marron, for your lapidary insights!
