If how this was handled is any indication as to how he would have run the Executive branch of the .gov, we aren’t missing much by his losing....

Obviously, Romney was not the super-manager that he claimed to be. However, he was doomed from the start, anyway. The GOP cannot win with a liberal. [posted by GlockThe Vote]

Now, that’s what I was trying to say way back when we could have made a difference.

The trouble then was none of the GOP primary contenders would probably have been much better. Perry was about the only 'solid' one, until his memory loss. The others -- Santorum lost his Senate seat, Gingrich lost his House Speakership, Cain didn't have any political experience, Bachmann -- Chris Wallace turned out to be sort of correct -- she was a bit flakey.

That cast wouldn't even have made a good Shakespearian play.

Ditto. When you start out not contesting your home state, and pick a running mate from a supposedly 50-50 state like WI, you're basically forced to run the table in other swing states.

I don't know if Rob Portman could have helped carry Ohio, but I believe he'd have had a fighting chance.

It's never too early to start thinking about 2016, but I have a feeling if the nominee doesn't come from a key swing state where he or she is very popular, say hello to POTUS Hilldebeest for 8 more years.

Believe what you want, I was a volunteer and will tell you the campaign was a disjointed mess.

And please about the debates - spare me - a lifetime occured from there till the election day.

Romney had no plan to deal w vote fraud. NONE

So, Mitt is a turnaround expert after all, turning victory into defeat, disgraceful. I won’t say I told anyone so because I voted for Mitt(anyone but Obama), but, as for GOP candidates, he was my last choice after Palin, Santorum, Gingrich, Cain, not necessarily in that order. The GOP needs to be made extinct; arise, Conservatives, form a new party, let the RINOS go to the democrats, they are natural bedfellows.

" He and Ryan were too wonky, and could not bring themselves to dumb down the campaign to get enough ignorant voters in swing states. "

C'mon man they didn't use any wonky ideas for smart people they spent time catering to the Trumps who thought Hawaii was part of Kenya.

You know this is a very good point.

Newt Gingrich took South Carolina by storm because of the way he threw down the gauntlet at the CNN moderator in one of the debates.

I can see Romney should have said in an firm and stern manner “Ms. Crowley I am appalled, no I am shocked that you as a debate moderator would interject yourself into the debate and defend my opponent!”.

Have to agree.

There was much he could have done, and clearly didn’t. He should have had all the court actions typed up in detail, ready to go.

Like what?

I kept thinking there was some master plan at play until the last week or two realizing the entire campaign was a farce operations wise.

I hate to say it but this reminds me of Palin bailing out on running!

Something terrible is happening and we are left without a clue what it is!

The problem with the widespread conspiracy theory is there's always somebody who intends to write a book real soon and he or she is already talking to a publisher.

We'll hear soon.

In this case the population dynamics are changing so fast I think the answer is very simple ~ Republicans failed to register enough new voters to keep the vote totals up to our 2004 election level of 64 million.

The Democrats had aleady found they were having difficulty finding new eligible adults to register as Democrats back in the big drive of 2008 ~ they ended up with 69 million votes on election day ~ still an all time high!

McCain got more votes than Romney did despite spending hundreds of millions less.

I still can’t wrap my head around that other than my guess that Ron Paul and Palin voters voted for McCain while they stayed home in 2012.

I still think Orca was hacked.

Romney saved money by listening to Rove, the right wing punditry and others who told him he was winning.

Romney burned out after the primaries. If he fought Obama like he fought Newt, this election would have been over.

You run for President for 4 years if you are a prior candidate. Romney had 4 years from 2008 to put his game together. He waited. Everyone knew it was going to be Romney. Obama said he wanted Romney. Hint hint.

The reason Romney really lost was two people. Ronald Reagan and Saul Alinsky. Reagan had a playbook for Conservatves to follow. Alinsky has a playbook which the Marxists follow. You win by following one of the two. Obama followed his playbook. Romney didn’t.

As much as I wanted Sarah to run, I think she saw the handwriting on the wall. The elite weren’t going to support her. Heck, they even trashed her after McCain’s loss in 2008. She didn’t tuck tail and run - she was too smart to get into the fray. Does anyone think she wasn’t aware of the voter fraud that was going to take place? She was damaged goods - thanks to the media, elites and yes - even the Romney team.

Maybe what goes around does come around??

This could be. Although the polls showed it close, you had Barone, Will and Morris talking blowout. I'm sure it kept some home.

Sticks and stones.

Doesn’t change the fact that Romney either displayed overwhelming incompetence in the closing days of his election bid with regards to the logistics of his campaign or he tanked it on purpose for reasons as yet undetermined.

So which is it? Gross negligence or willful sand bagging? I think the latter.

If a mere 170,000 Obama votes had instead been cast for Romney across 4 key swing states, Romney would have won. It seems likely the Orca debacle cost Romney at least this many votes.
