Will Texas secede? Petition reaches 25,000 signatures, triggering White House review

With more than 28,600 signatures collected since Nov. 9, a White House website petition from an Arlington, Texas man has attracted enough support to trigger an automatic review by the Obama administration.

Petitions submitted through the Obama White House’s “We the People” program “require a response” from the administration after they have attracted 25,000 signatures.

The Daily Caller reported Monday morning that since the day after President Barack Obama’s re-election, citizens from 20 states had submitted petitions asking for peaceful separations from the United States. (RELATED: White House website deluged with secession petitions from 20 states)

I signed the damn thing. Will it happen? Nope. But I think 100K people telling the federal government that they are tired of socialist rule should send a nice message.

Just for some perspective here, that is roughly one-tenth of one-percent of the population of Texas.

Actually that wasn’t, by definition, a civil war. Around here we call it “The War of Northern Aggression”. It was a war of secession. A civil war is two factions fighting for control of the government and country. For the South it was a war for self determination and self governance. I think the next one could be for the same reasons.

Just curious, why is it so absolute that Texas would never “ever” secede? I think if that ever happened, it is possible that what is left of the U.S would declare war on Texas....etc...
Really, though, I am curious for your reasons.

If Texas did secede, I think others would follow in short order. I’m considering signing Alabama’s petition, but can’t help, but believe that it would make me a target for Obama’s goons. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a patriot and can’t stand what is happening to our country. It might just be time for like minded states to get out, and reform with a renewal and re-dedication to our Constitution. Even if we succeed in reclaiming our nation, and getting it back on a sound track that’s constitutional, I believe it will take 50 years or more. It took that long to destroy it. The fight to get it back may take even longer if we succeed at all. The Constitution grants states the right to cast off government if it becomes a burden on the people. It was never intended for the government to be as large and powerful as it is. It was intended for people to have power over the government.

I wouldnt both with any petition on a fedgov website. They are just going to harvest all the info probably to no good of the participants.

Secession needs to start with your State Legislature.

Im sure King ChoomBama is going to get a real kick out all this while he and the Mooch enjoy their Kobe beef and Lobsters.

Id rather not provide him entertainment.
