USNG and State Militias are a big deal, indeed. Much of the rest of your reply is defeatist paranoia. Don’t forget that:

A. Much of the US military is overseas.
B. Those elements that are here would side with the secessionists, since most of the enlistees and junior officers are—wait for it—from bright “red” states and are generally conservative. You’d see defections by the boatload.
C. The numbers of armed “alphabet agency” personnel is not all that large. And in the history of insurrections, security forces tend to be crushed by regular Army (see Romania 1989).
D. FCC doesn’t have jurisdiction over cable news or the Internet, only broadcast TV.
E. The rest of the post is typical “woe is us, the media hates us, waah.” Sad.

Excuse me, but I’ve always heard that war is a thinking man’s game, and we are thinking men and women. First of all, you pulled the wrong data about U.S. overseas forces. The military of the United States is deployed in more than 150 countries around the world, with approximately 310,000 of its 1,478,000 active-duty personnel serving outside the United States and its territories.

Disgustingly, it looks like over a quarter of the military may have still voted for Obama and OF THIS MINORITY, I would imagine most were comprised of the younger enlistees, where his standing improved 3 percentage points over 2008. You’ve probably also read about the infiltration of gang membership into the armed forces.

The FBI released a new gang assessment report in October last year announcing that there are 1.4 million gang members in the U.S., a 40% increase in just three years, and that many of these members are getting inside the military, which has seen enlistments from 53 gangs and 100 regions in the U.S. Members of every major street gang have been reported on both U.S. and international military installations. The FBI report noted that while gang members have been reported in every branch of service, they are concentrated in the US Army, Army Reserves, and the Army National Guard. If they voted at all, one guess who they voted for. These military return with organization and skills that they bring to the domestic street. I think it would be a mistake to underestimate them. You are correct that some service members would defect, but I’m not certain it would be by the boatload. One can only hope.

Regarding communications: Under the Assignment of National Security and Emergency Preparedness Communications Functions Executive Order, signed in July of this year, the federal government has the authority to take control of and administer all public and private communications in the United States during and in the aftermath of a national emergency. While much of it concerns sharing, repairing and maintaining communications infrastructure after a disaster, I don’t trust the language, particularly after reading 5.3-5.6 of the EO. Obama can also declare martial law through The National Defense Resources Preparedness Executive Order (EO-13603), which he signed on March 16, this year. This order gives Obama control over much more than even our communications network and infrastructure.

Concerning other armed federal agencies, I don’t have a clue how many armed personnel each of them have, but they’re arming themselves. The latest figure I found, DHS alone recently ordered 750 million rounds of .40 caliber ammo against the threat of domestic terrorism. In addition, it has bullet resistant enclosures made of 4x13 Steel UL, 752 bullet resistant level-3 booths with standing seam hip roofs and thru-wall HVAC units. And if you haven’t read H.R. 645 (111th): National Emergency Centers Establishment Act, it might be an interesting read, especially the subsections stating that no fewer than six of the government’s regional FEMA camps must be located on military installations.

There is no greater disaster than to underestimate danger because one allowed emotion to cloud judgement. Pragmatism is what is needed, because underestimation of resistance will be fatal, not only to you and your family, but to the cause of freedom. One would also do well to read comments and listen carefully to avoid confusing ones own fellow and FRiend with those against whom we could one day be fighting.
