You can't be taxed on "income" that isn't "the coin of the realm". Check again, the IRS can tax barter transactions, and they would ordinarily deem this one (or maybe not with such a liberal icon on the front).

Hmm... PG County and Baltimore? I guess EBT cards don’t work as well as the old food stamp scrip currency, and I’d bet that’s how this “local currency” is funded.

I've been doing barter but not for an alternate currency. I barter for stuff I can easily get for FREE via coupons then trade it for stuff that I either need or that I know can be easily bartered. In both categories is Grey Goose vodka. I use some of it for myself but most I just rebarter for other stuff that I do need.
I don't mess with that play money.
