A U.S. Official's Anonymously Offered Defense of General Allen ('he's innocent')

I've spoken to a U.S. official familiar with the investigation who wasn't willing to be described with any more specificity than that. The short version of the official's comments: General Allen did nothing wrong.

As best I can tell, the official is honestly conveying what he or she believes to be true, but I have no idea if he or she is correct. I pass along the comments despite my general aversion to anonymous sourcing because, if nothing else, they provide some potentially significant leads for others reporters to follow as this story advances.

According to this official:

Although General Allen and his wife are social friends with Jill Kelley, "Allen has never been alone with Jill Kelley."

General Allen received "one of these weird, threatening letters" -- an email from an anonymous account that disparaged Jill Kelley -- and reacted by forwarding the email to Kelley, perhaps tipping her off for the first time to the fact that emails about her were being written.

The news items suggesting that Allen and Kelley exchanged 20,000 to 30,000 pages of documents are likely inaccurate, and "a couple hundred pages of email correspondence over several years" is more like it, most of it "perfunctory in nature" or...

20,000 to 30,000 pages of documents are likely inaccurate,

It seems physically impossible.

If I were anyone trying to buck any of whatever is going on here or trying to help someone buck it, I would keep my head on a swivel.

NYPost opinion writer John Podoretz tweeted about Jill Kelley "She's agency, right?"

I think he may be correct.

If I was wronged in that position, simply write a tell-all book, and screw em all! The book profits will likely pay for all he may lose.

Top brass toppling like dominoes... talk of making Kerry SecDef... someone really wants to demoralize and undermine our military.

So now John Kerry and the Democrats are involved. A Democrat fundraiser gave Kelley’s twin sister $300,000? Didn’t Kerry and Feinstein fire a shot at Hillary last week? And Hillary is out of town while all this is brewing up.

This is turning into another tailhook massacre of our military. The MSM employees are already in a frenzy for three reasons: 1) they can help Obama to get the public to forget the four dead Americans 2) they can attack our military, and 3) sex.

But this is trending way beyond a mere cover up..

Let's see.. re-election, transformation of America and greater flexibility -- purge time!

The purge was motivated by the desire on the part of the leadership to remove dissenters from the Party and what is often considered to have been a desire to consolidate the authority of Joseph Stalin Barack Obama. Additional campaigns of repression were carried out are planned against national minorities and social groups which were are being accused of acting against the Soviet state and the politics of the Communist Democratic Party.

Most public attention was will be focused on the purge of the leadership of the Communist Democratic Party, as well as of government bureaucrats and leaders of the armed forces, most some of whom were are Party members. The campaigns also affected target many other categories of the society: intelligentsia, peasants and especially those branded as "too rich for a peasant" (kulaks One-percenters), and professionals.

There.. with a little help from wiki

Now.. meet the New Normal some of whom were no doubt in on Tailhook that destroyed the careers of scores of our military. As campus radicals some talked about the possibility of having to kill off 60 million Americans -- so ruining the careers of a few Navy pilots and a few generals mean nothing to them.

These things are now America's elites.
