The man who accused Kevin Clash (Elmo) of underage sexual conduct has RECANTED. His lawyer now says it was "adult consensual relationship."
Kevin Clash statement: "I am relieved that this painful allegation has been put to rest. I will not discuss it further."
Now: will every media outlet that wrote long stories about Elmo yesterday write equally long stories today?

You could, but be prepared to wait a couple of years to hear anything. I’ve done this drill with government agencies, and they delay the process just as long as possible. With Sesame Street you have a public/private entity that falls under the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, which also receives public/private funding. Your FOIA would have to go to CPB first, then on to the Children’s Television Workshop (CTW) that produces the show.
Also, don’t be surprised if the pervert in this case “works” for one of the private divisions of CTW. If that’s not the case now, it will be very, very shortly.
Elmo knows how to cover his a**. Be interesting to know how much CTW collects off licensed Elmo merchandise each year. Someone made the determination that Elmo was too valuable, and a check was written. Wouldn’t be surprised to discover that the man “behind” Elmo’s voice has a Jimmy Savile-like history stretching back many years. The BBC kept Savile’s fondness for young girls secret for decades because he was too “important” for the brand.
Compare that to the public lynching of David Petraeus. True, Petraeus created his own mess, but it’s amazing that the “Elmo” story got virtually no public traction, since CTW (and its performers) are liberal icons.
A legal line that fails all the tests of reason is worse than useless: it is in itself morally corrupting. When we say that, for example, a 14-year-old girl is incapable of giving consent to sex ... unless her sex partner is also 14, and also, she's a competent adult when she wants an abortion, but she's not a competent adult if she wants a Sudafed ... then the obvious message is that the whole concept of "a minor" is simply a legal pretense.
"Who can, may," and everyone is available for sex with anyone.

None of them ever pressed charges, because there was no official crime committed on these 17-year-olds.
