Gov. Rick Scott wants to talk health care exchanges [Betrayal, Delay Tactic, or Realism?]
Tampa Bay Times ^ | November 14, 2012

Florida Gov. Rick Scott, one of the most vocal critics of the federal health care overhaul, is dropping his staunch opposition to the law.

Scott said in an interview Tuesday with the Associated Press that he now wants to negotiate with the federal government. He said it's time for Republicans to offer solutions to help families after they lost their bid to defeat President Barack Obama.

"The election is over and President Obama won," Scott said. "I'm responsible for the families of Florida. … If I can get to yes, I want to get to yes."

Rick is one of the good governors...is he swallowing reality here, dragging his feet, or betraying the cause?

IIRC, the IDIOTS who crammed Death Care down our throats did NOT create any kind of funding mechanism in the law for Federal Exchanges...so, if the state doesn't create them, the Feds will have a problem making their own...

Is that accurate?

Maybe Scott figures that Florida will get back more Obamacare money than they pay into it.

I thought Florida was one of those states that said no. Scott needs to be braced up in a hurry. Leave the whole smelly mess in Obama’s hands. What leverage is being used on Scott to make him reassess? Did he find a horse head in his bed?

What an awful thought, plausible too.

“So rick... We know who you have been sleeping with. Be a darn shame for that to get out now wouldn’t it? Whats that? we would not do that? Have you talked with a certain General lately??”

Now I am NOT saying Rick Scott is sleeping with anyone he should not be. But my point is likely someone has found some dirt on him he wants to keep quiet so he is giving in.

Either that or he is flat out an idiot.

He probably got a phone call from a representative of the occupier of the White House. Or he saw the results of the election and said to himself, If this is what the people want. and via their votes, a majority of those voting said it was, hell with them, let them have it. Or it could have been a combination of both.

One party campaigned on the virtues of capitalism, freedom, and decency. One party campaigned on the "virtures" of perversion, debauthery, and slavery. History tells us which party won. It was not the one that campaigned on the virtures of capitalism, freedom, and decency.

I don't think that it is a delaying tactic. The election results told him what he needed to know. To wit: There are now officially more parasites than hosts. I believe that he came face to face with reality.

Bob McDonnell has betrayed Virginia as well (for the umpteenth time).

Gov. Scott had proposed that Florida be exempted from Obamacare. It was an amendment that was voted on during the election but it was not passed.

Evidently, Florida voters want it.

There is going to be a health insurance exchange in Florida. It is either going to be run by the state or the feds. Perhaps it would be better for the state to do it.

Bob McDonnell has betrayed Virginia as well (for the umpteenth time).

How is refusing to make a state exchange betraying Virginia? If every state defaults to the Federal exchange it kills Obamacare because the Feds have no provision to fund it.

Someone can correct me, but I thought that one of the glitches of the legislation was that individual penalties could not be imposed if only a Federal exchange was available.
