IDF spokesman, Brigadier General Yoav (Poly) Mordechai held a press conference Wednesday night and addressed the military operation in Gaza. He said the operation was launched "After a long period of several years of unbearable fire aimed at residents of the south, which has intensified even more in recent weeks, including launches aimed at communities in the South and attacks against IDF forces."

Mordechai said that so far, the IDF has attacked dozens of targets, and noted that "the IDF operates with pinpoint accuracy to try to make as clean a hit as possible, but unfortunately some of the weapons are located near kindergartens and mosques. An orchard is intended for oranges, not weapons, and a school is intended for studies and not weapons. A mosque is intended for prayer and not weapons."

The Israelis adhere, as much as possible, to civilized rules of engagement that require, if at all possible, to hit only actual terror targets, as opposed to hurting the general population in Gaza. Since the Hamas savages intentionally place their arms depots and missile launchers in the midst of civilian locations, there is sometimes unintentional collateral damage, but it is the exception and not the norm. It is never Israeli policy to intentionally hit civilian targets.

In contrast, the savage, barbarian Jew-hating swine of Hamas indiscriminately fire missiles, quite intentionally, into solely civilian areas in Israel. The Israeli-developed "Iron Dome" anti-missile system works quite well against the missiles of the savage barbarians. However, nothing is perfect, including the Iron Dome system. A few missiles get through, and even when Iron Dome is successful, the sounds and sights of missiles aimed into civilian areas are frightening, especially to little children.

To get an idea of how frightening this is for the innocent little ones, here is a YouTube clip that shows a missile attack earlier today on purely civilian areas in Ashdod, an Israeli port city near Gaza. Towards the end you can hear the children crying in fear:

To see how the brilliantly designed and executed Iron Dome system intercepted 14 (!!!) incoming missiles aimed at Ashdod earlier today see this clip (note that the English language title accompanying the YouTube clip below is not correct - in the Hebrew text the poster correctly explains how all 14 were intercepted, whereas the poster's attempt to render this in English in the title mistakenly implies that the Grad missiles actually hit Ashdod - in this case they didn't. The poster was under missile attack, so one can understand why his translation of Hebrew to English wasn't perfect):
