The golden goose has fled

Government officials who blithely talk of punishing/taxing "the rich" to fund their redistribution schemes soon discover that "the rich", the golden goose if you will, are no more. Some decide not to work so hard, following the adage it isn't what you make, it is what you keep. Others decide to keep it--somewhere else.

This is happening in France. France, which limits working hours but makes it practically impossible to fire anyone, has decided to implement a 75% tax rate on all earnings above approximately one and half million dollars. As a result the geese, in this case wealthy French individuals, have decided to flee France to other, less greedy refuges. The latest to do so is French actor Gerard Depardieu.

Gerard Depardieu has become the latest rich Frenchman to flee his country and the stinging wealth taxes levied by Francois Hollande, the Socialist President of France.

The film star has bought a property in Nechin, a Belgian village near the border with France, which has become a colony for French exiles fleeing President Hollande's tax rate of 75 per cent on all earnings over €1 million.

Obama might actually have to seal the US borders, but to keep US citizens from fleeing his tax hell.

Even the Chinese Nationalists actually put up a fight against the Communists before fleeing to Taiwan. It makes me sick beyond measure to think that we won't do as much.

It’s amusing to see the flood of French millionaires leaving the country thanks to their idiot president. Then they’re shocked that the rich would leave to prevent their wealth from being confiscated by lunatic leftists. In the future, you’ll see the socialists enact some sort of law fining richies who estabish residences in other countries but still work in their native land. Then imprisonment. Then execution for those caught planning to leave.

I have been getting information on New Zealand.

That's funny, so have I! Maybe I'll see you there. Its a pretty small country though - I don't think there's enough room there for all of us...

American citizen’s are taxed by the US regardless of where in the world the income was generated, or where the American citizen resides.

Unless citizenship is denounced, Obama still gets his money

I recall when Bill Clinton appointed Chicago politician Carol Mosely Brown as Ambassador to New Zealand.

New Zealand is just another leftist country.

How do I pay for my healthcare in New Zealand?
New Zealand’s healthcare system is funded mainly through general taxation. Treatments are usually free or subsidised.

Will I be eligible for publicly funded healthcare?
Yes, provided you are a New Zealand Citizen or you are ordinarily resident in New Zealand.

How do I become ordinarily resident?
You need to be a permanent resident or a work-permit holder. The work-permit must be for a minimum of two years at time of issue. If you meet the criteria, your partner and children aged 19 years or under will also be eligible for publicly funded healthcare.

When is publicly funded healthcare free?

Public healthcare is free for:

The “human face” of New Zealand’s socialist medical system

The Herald has three more tales showing the “human face” of New Zealand’s socialist medical system:

This mind you in a country where their leading pasttime is fattening-up the goose for the purpose of harvesting its liver. Irony. The Mark of Quality Literature.

If it's irony you're looking for, consider the prospect of an American President freeing black slaves only to have the first black President return the favor by enslaving America.

Do some research on that subject. Increasingly they are charging people a set of steeper and steeper "exit fees" if they choose to renounce their citizenship. They try and keep you on the hook for paying taxes for another decade or so after you've gone. And the courts have ruled that they do not have to GRANT your request to renounce. And increasingly I suspect the answer will be No.

I was really amazed they didn’t move somewhere like Dallas or Atlanta.

“And the courts have ruled that they do not have to GRANT your request to renounce. And increasingly I suspect the answer will be No.”

Then there is no peaceful recourse to freedom.

When/if California overturns Proposition 13 you will see a greater outflow of the “evil rich” than in France. Don’t think that’s not coming down the pike.
