For the last 6 months I was there, I likened it to watching a slow-motion building collapse, while looking up from the basement.
Last I heard, they'd been without phones for three DAYS. The whole company. And if the phones aren't ringing, they're not making any money. I asked the guy who told me, "Why haven't they used the failover system?"
Guy looked shocked. 'There's a failover??"
I replied, "Sure, I put it in myself. It would take a morning or so of work to fail things over, but that's better than three days of downtime. It's all in the documentation that I left."
Guy just shook his head sadly. There was no one left in the department to read my docs, everyone that I had trained was gone,, and the offshore people that IT was outsourced to were utterly and completely incompetent, as was the CIO who hired them.
So glad that I got out. So very glad. I didn't think that the S would HTF within just a few months, but it obviously was.
Drive that train right over the cliff.
Congrats on great timing. How did you get it down to five minutes before TSHTF?
