Russia condemns 'disproportionate' strikes on Gaza

MOSCOW: Russia on Thursday condemned Israel's "disproportionate" use of force in air strikes on the Gaza Strip while calling on Palestinian militants to halt firing rockets at the Jewish state.

"Attacks on the south of Israel and the disproportionate strikes on Gaza -- especially when civilians are killed on both sides -- are completely unacceptable," foreign ministry spokesman Alexander Lukashevich told reporters.

The Russian official stressed that the violence was especially dangerous because it came against the backdrop of existing regional instability linked to the conflict in Syria and last year's war in Libya.

Lukashevich said Israel and the Palestinians were now pursuing a course that could lead to still further bloodshed between them while threatening to degenerate into a broader conflict.

"We strongly appeal on all the involved parties to immediately end their armed confrontation and to keep the conflict from resulting in still further bloodshed," the Russian spokesman told a weekly briefing.

The Israelis have every right to insure nothing stands taller than two feet tall in Gaza.

Attacks on the south of Israel and the disproportionate strikes on Gaza

Yea. That's the way it works. See, we don't see Israel running to the store to buy firecrackers and sparklers to throw back at them when they already have an arsenal of defense to go and eliminate the current threat completely.

It's war, not tit-for-tat, tidly-winks and patty-cake shaking.

Might as well flap your gums while you can because one day. . . “And I will turn thee back, and put hooks into thy jaws...” You know the rest.

If the muzzies don't like being on the wrong end of Israeli arty and air strikes, they could try the simple expedient of not shooting rockets into Israel.

Hey muzzies: Keep your Syrian civil war inside Syria, and the Israelis will probably not mess with you.

Just a thought ...

Not to mention endless war.

OTOH, it's hard not to draw the conclusion that endless war is not the objective.

[ Russia condemns ‘disproportionate’ strikes on Gaza ]

Thats very very true....

Proportionate would be cleaning out GAZA like a massive dose of EX_LAX..
Cutting off all water and food supplies.. but allowing the residents to go to Egypt or Jordan.. or “wherever”

BUT NOT to Lebanon or Syria... GAZA is a HIVE of hornets.. killer bees..

Soviet Union blasts USA for ‘disproportionate’ response to attack on Pearl Harbor. “All-out war sacrifices too many lives,” said Mr. Stalin.

So when Obama says if they bring a knife we bring a gun, we should accuse him of disproportionate response?

I happen to think our response to Pearl was overkill, then again I don’t see Isreal dropping nukes on Gaza.

I happen to think our response to Pearl was overkill...

But what you call "overkill" is what wins wars. Measured, "proportionate" responses make them drag on and on. Attempts to be "proportionate" were one of the reasons Vietnam and Korea lasted so long.

If you're going to fight, hit hard enough to win quickly. If you don't intend to win, don't fight.

Given the history of the ME, Israel absolutely needs to hit them hard enough to make it hurt and get the Muslims' hate-fogged attention, if possible.

"disproportionate"

Ah. That's the word. I was trying to remember this just this afternoon reading another article.

This is the word that's trotted out any time Israel defends itself.

One would think that disproportionate would be wiping out everyone in the strip and the west bank, which I think they should do or at least to deport them to other muslim countries.

I hope Israel has a total count of missiles fired at it since 2007 then it can say when we double that amount, then it will be disproportionate.
