Egypt's Morsi says Israel 'aggression' in Gaza unacceptable

AFP - Egypt's President Mohamed Morsi rejected on Thursday what he called Israel's aggression in Gaza, saying it threatened to destabilise the region, while Cairo called on the US to stop Israel's strikes.

"The Israelis must understand that we do not accept this aggression, which could lead to instability in the region," Morsi said in televised remarks, as Israeli air forces pummelled Gaza and militants fired rockets back in a deadly tit for tat.

Egypt's Islamist administration, which has close ties with Gaza's ruling Hamas movement, recalled its ambassador on Wednesday in protest at the Israeli operation, which began with the targeted killing of a top Hamas military commander.

In an earlier telephone conversation with US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Egyptian Foreign Minister Mohammed Kamel Amr "called on the United States to immediately intervene to bring to an end the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people in Gaza," the ministry said in a statement.

"As long as the Israeli aggression continues, the situation will worsen in a way that will make it uncontrollable," Amr told Clinton late Wednesday.

He called on Washington to "use its contacts with Israel to bring to an end this aggression."

Morsi, how did an aggressive stance against Israel work out last time? If I recall correctly, they handled Egypt in a matter of hours while simultaneously fighting another war. You mat be well advised to shut the hell up!

In war it's not good to be so self assured. Many people have had their butts handed too them when they expected an easy win. The Arabs are aware of history too. I think they have planned their defense of Gaza, to make it difficult for the Israelis.

Personally, I think the Israelis should level the Gaza strip and expel all Arabs to Egypt. I believe the Gaza strip came into existence at the end of the 1948 war. It has outlived it's usefulness and needs to be added to the dustbin of history.

He called on Washington to “use its contacts with Israel.”

Good Luck with that Morsi. Our Muslim President is not on the best of terms with Israel and unlike Obie they stand and defend instead of “stand down” when their people are in danger.

Of course if you really wanna try to do something about it, come and get a piece of the IDF. It will be a one-way trip for your and your Bruthas I assure you.

The Gazans elected Hamas as their government. So they are complicit in their own misery.

I was elated when that happened. Now, when Hamas attacks, the entire populace has approved and is complicit.

Laissez les bon temps rouler! Go Israel!

Hamas shooting rockets into Israel is “acceptable” AND “non-violent”.

Next question?

The koranimals don't have the IQ to realize nonsense when they spout it. Must be an inbred cultural thing.

The regions is sure being destabilized, but it's the huge increase in rocket attacks into Israel that triggered it.

Any who is unable to reach that simple conclusion is a major part of the source of the problem.
