The sex scandal that has brought down CIA chief David Petraeus may be causing heartache in the Washington security establishment but the affair has prompted laughter among the Taliban.

Petraeus resigned last week to pre-empt revelations of an affair with his married biographer Paula Broadwell, bringing to an end a glittering military career that included a spell commanding NATO forces fighting the Taliban in Afghanistan.

A stony-faced Taliban official burst into laughter at the mention of the Petraeus affair during an interview with AFP in northwest Pakistan this week.

-snip-

The Taliban official said he was not surprised.

"It's quite normal for Americans and Western people to behave like this -- they live in free sex societies where nobody cares about this sort of thing, so what do you expect?" he said.

The taliban prefer little boys and goats. Their women like things that way.

He then went back to his hut and promptly molested a goat and threw acid in the face of his Daughter.

I’m sorry, but a married man humping a female (if she’s hot) is not a sex scandal, 60% of married men do this and 50% of married women also do it.

Moral weakness will only embolden the enemy. The taliban will see it as weakness. And of course they are right at that level. It is weakness...

Gmail account; mistress with him all the time. The guy was not discreet and showed poor trade craft as head spook. Having her attend his confirmation hearing as CIA director; how long before the Russians, Chinese or even Mossad blackmail him. Then he’s sending letters to judges vouching for Lebanese girl and honoring the sub prime couple at the Pentagon. Petreaus is the Lance Armstrong of the military.

Moral weakness will only embolden the enemy.

Bingo. The key point here is not that many people cheat on their spouses, or that the Taliban themselves are immoral, or anything like that.

The key point is that the Petraeus affair weakens us, and strengthens them. Propaganda can be a very powerful weapon.

BUMP! BUMP!

The universalism of Islam, in its all-embracing creed, is imposed on the believers as a continuous process of warfare, psychological and political, if not strictly military. . . . The Jihad, accordingly, may be stated as a doctrine of a permanent state of war, not continuous fighting.”2 — Majid Khadduri

Easy criticism knowing goats tell no tales.

‘General’ Petreus needs to be called back to active duty and summarily court marshalled, busted in rank and pension reduced for violating the the code he swore to uphold and defend...not to mention the exposure to national security he caused with his actions...
