In their view the vote may induce the Fuehrer to steer henceforth a more moderate course and take account of the sensibilities of general opinion. Some of the more optimistic even hope it may induce him to get rid of some of his radical advisers to whom the opposition within Germany is great.

seems we have been hearing similar wishful thinking about our own Dear Leader's recent diminished victory.

Yes, everytime I hear some dumbarse pundit say “we’ll maybe he will work with the republicans.... Blah blah take a more moderate stand blah blah” I want to scream, just where has he ever shown he will change????? He is a hard core radical. Period.

In 1932, my mother’s older sister married a German furniture manufacturer. Her letters from Germany in those first years said Hitler seemed to have some good ideas. Later her opinion changed.
