To be honest, modern CCP is about as communist as modern GOP is a Republican.

The CCP is Communist in name only.

The rich are now allowed to join the party. And the main reason for joining it nowadays is career advancement.

In Mao’s time, the CCP was concerned with ideological purity and building a Maoist utopia.

Today, the party is interested in power and ensuring national stability. Chinese nationalism has increasingly supplanted Communist ideology as the source of the party’s legitimacy, which also rests on its ability to deliver jobs and a better life for millions of Chinese.

China still doesn’t have a middle class of the size that would trigger a democratic transition. That is still a few decades away.

Except for its lack of white men, not much ‘diversity’ in that leadership.
