What blows my mind is how Petraeus and Allen got sucked into this circle. Always thought Petraeus was one of the adults in the room, an opinion reinforced by a conversation with a buddy who served as a battalion commander alongside Petraeus many years ago. You would think he would have been above this kind of petty BS.
