It’s ‘National Papa John’s Appreciation Day’

Pizza. It’s what’s for lunch (or dinner) today, at least for many Americans who will support Papa John’s pizza chain to counter liberal calls to boycott the business.

“National Papa John’s Appreciation Day” has been declared with a Facebook page as word has spread after liberals took offense to founder and owner John Schnatter’s remarks concerning Obamacare and its affect on his business. From Fox News:

Daniel Wetter is just 16 years old, but his plan to support pizza chain Papa John’s amid a backlash of liberal criticism is no pie-in-the-sky idea.

Wetter is part of an upstart group called Rebooting America that is proposing that Friday be a national day of appreciation for the pizza chain, whose chief executive officer is being attacked for saying employees’ hours might be cut to cover the cost of implementing their health insurance under ObamaCare.

The Dayton Daily News noted the event:

The controversy began with comments made by Papa John’s owner John Schnatter that he would raise prices and cut employees’ hours to pay for costs associated with the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare. Those comments prompted calls for a boycott, which in turn triggered a call for a National Papa John’s Appreciation Day today.

“Papa John’s has been targeted by the left for a boycott, for simply articulating that ObamaCare would hurt profits and force cutbacks in employee hours,” says the “National Papa John’s Appreciation Day” Facebook event page. “Stand up to this nonsensical and illogical action and support Papa John’s this Friday!” More than 17,400 Facebook users had indicated they were “going” to the Papa John’s event as of late Thursday afternoon.

Denny’s, Olive Garden, and Applebee’s restaurants have also expressed concern that costs will go up to counter the now-unstoppable Obamacare. Though warnings had been issued since the overreaching government health care bill was passed, the reelection of President Barack Obama assured that Obamacare would become the law of the land.

Now the dominoes have begun to fall as the financial reality begins to hit not only businesses but also consumers who will feel the bite in their wallets. For some, one way to protest will be taking time today to munch on Papa John’s pizza and cinnapies.

Does anyone have a list of what businesses are GOP friendly? We don’t have a Papa John’s here. Small town. I don’t ever, ever buy Pepsi, because of their stupid logo. We need a list.

On Fantasy Island, business owners pay taxes and expenses out of their own pockets. Everywhere else in the world, it is the consumer who pays these costs through increased product and service prices. Liberals really do need to get a grip.

Kudos to Papa John! I’d say John Schnatter has a real knack for marketing.

There are none. And I'll tell you why...

Look at a list of corporate giants. They give handsomely to both sides. They hedge their investments.

LOL, and thanks for the list. For years now, I avoid buying things based on political bent, if I know. We went to our first movie in over 5 years this fall. Guess? 2016!
