Lubbock Radisson to lay off 36 employees (Corporate mandated, not supposed to be released yet)

The Lubbock Radisson will be laying off 36 full-time and part-time employees soon.

Radisson Lubbock manager Shana Statler said the layoffs are effective Nov. 25, then came back to say “we are not ready to release that information yet. The general manager will release that information Monday.”

But Danny Soliz, Director of Business Development for WorkForce Solutions of the South Plains, said he was contacted by a representative of the Radisson Corporate office Wednesday for the purpose of job placement for the laid off employees.

Soliz said that the layoffs are corporate-mandated, and will be permanent.

Lubbock Mayor Glenn Robertson said he was aware of the layoffs, and it was his understanding that the hotel is changing ownership. He added that past-due hotel sales tax to the City of Lubbock was paid Thursday so that the change of ownership could be closed today.

“I believe Radission contacted Workforce Solutions, it sounds like they are trying to get the employees affected by the layoff placed in new jobs, so I have to give them credit for that,” said Robertson.

More information will be provided as it becomes available.

Is this just Lubbock, or did someone tip corporate's hand on a broader layoff???

This layoff pushes my count to over 89,000 since the election.

Well good, next I go out to see the kid at college, I’ll check their rate. Been way to expensive. Maybe I’ll get a discount before Obummer drives them out of business !

Don’t go out there on a football weekend as they all double the price. We ended up staying at the 1950’s vintage Econolodge for the Texas game and it was $120 a night.
