Please, PLEASE don’t tell me you’re comparing Sarah Palin to one of the most infamous mass-murderers of the 20th century.
And no, people who admire her are NOT cult members.
She’d do very well on an advisory committee. Unless she really does want to toss her camo cap into that ring in four years.
No, I guess I was comparing your call to rally around Sarah Palin as the same type of suicide call that Jones put out in Jonestown. Go ahead and drink the Kool Aid. I’ll have no part of it.
I can tell you that in Oklahoma, Sara Palin engendered actual excitement in 2008. The only people I know excited about voting for Romney (and not merely against Obama) are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Sarah did none of those things. I don’t have time to go over each point, though it’s all been covered before.
Your criticism is MSM storyline, like quoting her saying she could see Russia from her porch.
That’s how it was in my corner of Texas. The GOP headquarters in 2008 was perpetually empty and had virtually no foot-traffic, but once Palin was announced, the place exploded with people and excitement. Palin tapped into something I hadn’t seen since Reagan’s days. Regular people finally felt they had someone who represented them, both ideologically and culturally.
What a non-surprise that the GOP-E sided with the Libs and their vile media minions to try to extinguish all that, with an endless smear campaign. Just like they did once again with the Tea Party.
Conservative populism from flyover country scares the HELL out the ruling-class elites. They’ll do absolutely anything to kill it, whenever it pops up.
“Conservative populism from flyover country scares the HELL out the ruling-class elites. Theyll do absolutely anything to kill it, whenever it pops up.”
I agree. The media elites have had some success limiting the Tea Party by portraying it as a uncool bunch of senile racists. Somehow using pop culture, conservatism has to be taught to the young to get around the liberalism that is public education.
Fine. Go on your merry way.
All I know is that the 2010 election cycle was the only time the GOP has gained ground in the Federal government since 2004. And it was also the only time Sarah Palin wasn’t muzzled by the Republican establishment.
Then go away. Seriously. Go away. Sarah Palin will be the go-to candidate/leader supported by a huge number on this forum and others like this and we don't need your negativism stinking up the place. That goes for all who deem it necessary to flock to every thread about Palin and vomit. Quit doing the marxist/leftists work for them.
Thanks for the ping, Onyx. I shared this article on my facebook page. It’s a keeper!
Sarah Palin is the greatest political leader I’ve seen in the past 50 years.
But the Republican Party wouldn’t let her anywhere near them, for fear that she’d broom them out the way she broomed out the corrupt Republicans in Alaska, as well as the corrupt Democrats.
I would back her with everything I’ve got. But the question is, how do we get her in there? I was hopeful the last time around—but no luck. If someone can figure out a plan to put her back into the running, I would be delighted. It’s about the only chance I can see of saving our country. There’s no one else in sight who could come anywhere near her at the job that needs doing. And after 50 years and more of disappointments, with the sole exception of Reagan (and even he couldn’t cut spending or reduce government more than a little), I very much doubt that anyone else of that caliber will appear on the scene.
What you call “negativism” is reality, whether you are prescient enough to see it or not.
In 2012, the GOP had incredible advantages. The terrible economy, high unemployment, high gas prices, Benghazi-gate, Petraeus-gate. Their campaign coffers were loaded.
If they could not win in that kind of environment, they really need to get out of the political arena, and find something else to do.
Pathetic is right. They latched their fortunes to a candidate who they felt would win with independents and even liberals. They could not even get as many votes as McCain/Palin in a really bad year for the GOP, with nothing going for them.
Get some help.
Republican Party elite - Old, corrupt, limp wrist girly men.(e.g. Boehner, McConnell, etc, etc)
Sarah Palin - Mama Grizzly
“Defeatist” a better word? All I’m saying is you are either for us or against us. Reality is what we make it. It isn’t preordained.
But the party-first ABO crowd said that Team Romney did not need their votes...
I'm with you. The moochers now outnumber those of us who work and they're voting our money and wealth away from us via the so-called "ballot box."
I've had the tagline below for a number of years now, and now we see the truth in it. When the ballot box no longer counts, the ammunition box does.
I know what's in my ammunition box.
Echo your statements. Romney held or flip-flopped on several positions that concerned me greatly however like you I believe he's a good and decent man. I voted for him in the hopes he'd become President and that we Conservatives would at least have a chance to sway his positions closer to ours.
No one in their right mind can say with a straight face that we'd have any chance of swaying Obama to our side, at least with Romney there was a chance.
Anyway, the election's over and my vote was cast (not that it mattered living here in Illinois.) I can live with having vote for Romney believing him to be a good, decent man and I'll not throw him under the bus like so many other (disgruntled) voters, Republicans or Conservatives have.
No doubt some were lost by the terrible actions of the GOP-E in 2008 and again in 2012, but I don't think you can attribute Romney's loss to that alone. IMO, Romney lost the election because he neglected to 'close the deal' with the American people in the 2nd and 3rd debates. After the first debate Romney "played it safe" rather than playing to win.
It's like prevent defense in the NFL, never liked it, causes more teams to LOSE games than actually WIN then.
If they had stood by her, she wouldve been re-elected Governor of Alaska...
One problem here: Sarah was in the middle of her first term as Governor of Alaska when she resigned her office due to numerous lawsuits that her political detractors/enemies in Alaska kept filing. The State of Alaska doesn't provide legal defense for it's Governor, it was on Sarah and her personal finances to defend against a tidal wave of lawsuits being filed.
Fact is, she resigned her office rather than fight (I don't blame her on that point, her family's finances and financial well being has to come first) and because of that SOME will view her as damaged goods (a "quitter" when the going gets tough.)
Unfortunately, that's just the way it is. I like her, I wish she'd have run THIS TIME and because she didn't I think her time has passed. Regrettable, IMO.
[ I’ll not throw him under the bus like so many other (disgruntled) voters, Republicans or Conservatives have. ]
That’ll be me... Romney took a “DIVE”..
He is not what appears to be.. like you know.. OBAMA..
First things first: LTNS. Glad to see a fellow class of '98 still hanging around.
Now back to business: do you really thing he took a 'dive' deliberately?
Should’ve just ran McCain/Palin again if we wanted to get at least as many votes as we got last time.
I’m not sure if anyone has a better chance against Hillary in 2016 than Palin. The “woman card” is going to help Hillary get big turnout from women. Palin leading the GOP ticket should help blunt that effect. It will stop the media from being able to play the “first woman president” card as a meme to help Hillary. The media going gaga over that just like they did “first black president” will push Hillary over the top of any man the GOP might run.
And as we all now know, this “cultural” crap is all that matters when winning presidential elections. We’re not going to be able to win on the issues no matter how right we are.
I don't think so. The fact that she didn't run this time only helps make her more viable next time. The GOP-E got their pick this time and failed miserably. Next time the Republican primary voters should realize they need to go 180 degrees opposite of what the GOP-E wants, which is Palin.
Nonsense. The media will be equally hard on any Republican we put up. They didn't "go easy" on Romney. Any belief that you can pacify the media by picking a candidate they'll like is totally ill-conceived.
[ Now back to business: do you really thing he took a ‘dive’ deliberately? ]
1) no outrage over having the election stolen from him.. not a squeak..
2) He knew he would loose.. must have been in on it...
3) extremely weak responses to Obama in the debates..
4) Romney-care “IS” Obama-care..
5) He never says anything negative about the Unions.. ever..
6) He never even mentions the Unions positive or negative..
7) He is a liberal posing as a conservative..
8) ONLY Rinos are fooled by him, democrats and conservatives know who he is..
9) Not all republicans are republicans..
10) He is a poseur, shill, fake, phoney, figurehead, facade..
** The people of Mass. know when they see a liberal.. all others cannot and will not hold office in MAss.. Republicans chose the absolute bottom of the barrel.. even Juan McLaim was a more honest liberal..
You are an atheist then? If I were an atheist, I would feel as you do. I see no human means for solving this. But God does exist. We are only one good miracle away from freedom. He waits for us to repent, I think. We kill, or allow to be killed, untold millions of innocent children. We embrace, or allow to be embraced, all manner of sexual perversion. We raise up idols to ourselves, our own ingenuity, our own kind of entitlement mentality, our own evolution to deity, and we are surprised to learn He is not amused.
Statism can never win in the end. It is unnatural and inefficient, and God’s system of nature will fight it until freedom once again lights our way. The only question is how long the darkness of this particular winter. If we seek God’s help, and learn to not run to God’s enemies for help, we may yet escape this trap now closing on us. One person alone cannot do it. I am convinced this is why Sarah decided not to run this time. I think she could see this all coming. She might have gone forward anyway if she knew we had her back, and some of us did, but not enough to overcome what was coming.
Sarah Palin certainly has our vote here at the ranch.
Reality is that Governor Palin is the most effective conservative voice in America, she gave us the biggest bright spots to come out of this Romney/Rockefeller/Rove disaster.
If she comes through in 2014 as she has in 2010 and 2012, then we will be miles ahead of where we would be without her.
You should be liking her effect on conservative politics and elections, not trying to end it.
What kind of constructive action is that to be taking? You don’t like Ted Cruz and Deb Fischer?
I voted for Johnson because I can’t vote for slow death or fast death of the Republic. If Palin runs, which is a long shot imho... I’m all in.
Don’t breed please.
To win against a Democrat-to-be-named-later Palin would only need to cut into the gender deficit by a few percent. Her base would be secure from day one. She wouldn’t have the stigma of being a man talking about the abortion issue. She wouldn’t have a problem raising money. She wouldn’t have to build name recognition. She is the most thoroughly vetted politician in history.
Palin/Rubio is a leadpipe cinch.
You two already know this, but for others.
There is no question that the most popular governor in America, and possibly history, would have won reelection, even after all the media attacks, even after her becoming the face of conservativeism in America, and a female “Reagan in a skirt”.
Governor Palin left with 56% approval and replaced herself with a republican.
Palin served 32 months, Romney served 48 months.
Romney weakened the state GOP, was unable to run for reelection, although he had wanted to, and he left office with a dismal 34% approval, and turning the seat over to a democrat.
Romney, having been the 4th GOP governor in a row, in a state that prefers republican governors, the democrats took the seat, and have held it since.
Nope, he believed he was going to win.
Who knows. You may be right and Lord knows I've been wrong before. ;-)
“Fact is, she resigned her office rather than fight”
That’s sort of my point. Without the backing of the GOP, it doesn’t appear as though she had the wherewithal to withstand that level of attack.
No more the Cult members of Mittens with his Kittens during the Primary.
Now on this/different Sarah threads I am seeing the very people who pushed HIM during the Primary come out and Sarah's time has come and gone.
Ronald Reagan Lost the 1968 Primary to Richard Nixon
Then he lost the The 1976 Primary to Gerald Ford.
So my Point is this, Sarah is not done, not by a Long Shot.
My only fear is the U.S. will be done and gone before she gets a shot to help us put it back together.
I say to the PDS Trolls our there has an F and U in it.
Are you one of those fools who think the US Senate is suitable preparation for something other than the gallows?
Conservative populism from flyover country scares the HELL out the ruling-class elites. Theyll do absolutely anything to kill it, whenever it pops up.Rather than start another Palin thread, I'll post this here.
It seems an appropriate response to your statement.

It just happened again.
I spend a fair amount of time at my local coffee shop. I like to do my writing outside and, besides, it gives me an opportunity to try and initiate political conversations with the people who pass by my hope always being to begin to enlighten them as to what conservatives really believe (and not just what the leftist media tells them.)
Today, the conversation turned to Sarah Palin and my latest acquaintance blurted out: Oh I hate her. Since she did not yet know my politics, and since we were in Los Angeles, it is clear that she expected to hear back what you usually hear back in this city: Yeah, I hate her, too. Instead, I asked her why.
At this point I could have predicted her response because its the same response you get from liberals no matter who on the Right youre talking about: Because shes stupid. I replied: Being stupid is no reason to hate someone, but tell me, which one of her policies do you disagree with? It wasnt hard to predict her response: All of them!
I continued to push. Well, then, if its all of them, it should be easy for you to name one. Her reply? Theyre too many to list.
So dont list them, just give me one, I said.
This went on for awhile until my new acquaintance finally admitted that she didnt know any of Ms. Palins policies. Before she ran off Democrats always run off when asked to provide facts to justify their hatred for Republicans I looked her in the eyes and said, If you dont know any of her policies, perhaps you should look into them. She promised she would. She wont. If there are two things you can count on with Democrats, they are filled with hate and empty of facts.
But it got me to thinking. Given that these people dont know any of Ms. Palins political positions, what is it about her that they hate? It has to be her life story. Now, to all decent people, Ms. Palins life story could not be more laudable. She married her high school sweetheart to whom she remains married and with whom she is apparently still in love. In the harshest of climes, she and Todd started a small business which, apparently, they ran well enough to purchase a home and raise a family. Despite the long hours required to run a family business and raise children, when Ms. Palin saw that the public schools were not doing a good job in educating her children, she joined the local PTA and was so effective there that the people who knew her best and in small towns like Wasilla there are very few secrets elected her to be their mayor.
Apparently, Ms. Palin was so effective in that job that the mayors of the other small towns and big cities elected her president of the Alaska Conference of Mayors. After a highly successful stint as chairman of the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission, she ran an uphill battle against an entrenched Republican governor and was elected to the top position, Governor, of the largest state in the nation. She did that job so well that her approval ratings despite having ruffled the feathers of the leading political family in Alaska bordered on 80 percent.
As Ms. Palins political horizons continued to grow, she found out she was pregnant with her
fourth fifth child, a baby with Downs Syndrome. Despite knowing in advance that this child would require even more attention and care than other kids, Ms. Palin opted to give her child Trig life.
So, given that those who hate hate!!! Ms. Palin know nothing more than these facts about her, what is it about Ms. Palins life story that generates this blind loathing? The answer is that, at every turn, Ms. Palins story debunks the myths of victimization and self-centeredness that is at the heart of the modern liberal ideology.
First, Ms. Palin is married with children. The Democrat Partys treasured storyline is that women with children especially those who take care of them themselves are oppressed, victimized and doomed to a life without personal fulfillment. Ms. Palins life proves them wrong and the Democrats hate her for this. If Ms. Palin were a Democrat she would have offed the last child before he was born so that she could have more me time to pursue her own wants and pleasures. There is clearly something very wrong with this woman who allowed her special needs child to live. They hate her for that.
One of the most obvious demographic differences between the Left and the Right is that people without children those too self-centered and jealous of others stealing their attention, angry and hate-filled feminists, radical homosexuals and school children too young to have started a family are just about guaranteed to pull the lever for anyone with a D next to their names. Those married with children are just as assured to pull the lever for someone from the Right.
And Sarah Palin ran a small business. Democrats dont run businesses. In fact, Democrats dont do anything. If you eliminated from the voting roll everyone who did nothing other than talk the academic, the newscaster, the actor, the politician and those who game the system, collecting welfare and years of unemployment benefits and workmans compensation and food stamps, how many people would be left voting Democrat?
Lets put it this way, if having had a job having done something that required either physical labor or risking ones own money were a prerequisite to work in the White House, Barack Obama would have to fire 94 percent of his top advisers. Thats a real number. Ninety four percent of Obamas top advisers have never done anything like run a small store, paint a bridge, wire a house for electricity or anything else other than flap their lips.
This is the genesis of the notion that Palin is stupid. Liberals are convinced that theres something the matter with people who have jobs. This is what they mean by Whats the Matter with Kansas, Kansas being a place where people work Hollywood, Cambridge Massachusetts, the TV studios in Manhattan are places were people talk. To the liberal, anyone who has a job must be stupid, after all, not everyone is as good a talker as they are, but surely everyone can find one excuse or another to sit at home and collect welfare.
In fact, to the modern liberal, anyone who has a job is not just stupid, he (or she) is dangerous. These people cling to their guns and their religion because they toil for their reward. These people are constantly on the verge of violence, whether its an attack like the one they caused in Tucson (according to the leftist script) or just by going home and beating their children. Consider the lyrics of the working mans troubadour by Bruce Springsteen:
Early in the morning/factory whistle blows
Man rises from bed and puts on his clothes.
Man takes his lunch, walks out in the morning line
Thats the work, the workin, thats the workin life.
End of the day/Factory whistle cries
Man walks through them gates with death in their eyes.
And you just better believe, boy, somebodys gonna get it tonight.
(Why?) Cause thats the work, the workin thats that workin life!
Sarah Palin is stupid and dangerous because, well, to those who have made their millions by doing nothing other than talking, thats the work, the workin thats the workin life. Just in case you think thats just one example of Springsteens take on anyone who has a job, consider the horrors of his daddy who worked his whole life, for nothing but the pain. In this song, Adam Raised a Cain, daddy, of course, beats his children, now he walks these empty rooms searching for something to blame. And, in fact, it gets worse because, clearly, a child who is beaten is going to continue that cycle of violence and beat his child (you inherit the sins/you inherit the flames). So, even to the most sympathetic leftist like Springsteen, not one, not two, but three generations are destroyed all because daddy had to go to work.
And they hate Sarah Palin because she joined the PTA and made things better. No, no, thats not supposed to happen. Schools (read: the teachers union) need more money, only more money will solve the problems in the schools. Sarah Palin must be destroyed!
And, finally, they hate Sarah Palin because she was a successful mayor and governor. The Democrat Party narrative is that the American people are too stupid to successfully govern themselves and need Harvard and Yale elitists to dictate to them how they should live their lives. If a graduate of the University of Idaho can successfully run the biggest state in the union, then so can a kid who graduated from Texas A & M or even a kid with a degree from Eureka College.
If Democrats disagreed with Ms. Palin on the issues that would be one thing. But they dont merely disagree with her, they hate her and they hate her without caring one whit about where she stands on the issues. They hate her because she is living proof that everything about the Democratic Party narrative is a lie and for this reason she cannot be allowed to be liked because if Democrats liked her, they might actually listen to her policies.
Nonsense back at ya. At least the media essentially gave
up on the charge that Romney was not qualified. They would
never stop questioning Palin’s right to breathe air. And,
I sure as hell never even hinted that the media would
go easy on any Republican.
There is nothing “equally hard” about the way the media
will treat Palin as compared to other GOP candidates. She
will get it worse. That is why she needs to be better prepared
next time which is a point I made in my first post which you
chose to ignore.
Real leaders don't quit.
Actually, as he explained it, the Democrat Party quit on him.
But Palin isn't the future of anything political.
RR would have never quit his office, and she didn’t quit for the good of Alaska, she quit because she didn’t want to deal with the hassle any longer.
She was being harrased, not shot at.
