Periodic abstinence (about 7 days per month)--- Natural Family Planning --- is effective afor everyone and particularly valuable for the poor, because it does not require any kind of doctor-supported dosages,injections or implantations; is ethially acceptable to all religious faith groups; has no medical side-effects or counter-indications; has zero costs; empowers couples to achieve or avoid pregnancy as their own judgment may determine; and cannot be used coercively by the State.
