We have always had great Thanksgiving feasts in my family - usually with extended family on hand. When my Father was still alive he used to invite his students - who came from around the world and did not have previous exposure to Thanksgiving.
One year we had one of his students from Africa - a young gent with tribal scars on his cheeks. I spoke of him many years later in my eulogy at my Father's funeral. It turns out he was in the congregation and came up and spoke to me after the Mass.
Genuflectimus non ad principem sed ad Principem Pacis!
Listen, O isles, unto me; and hearken, ye people, from far; The LORD hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name. (Isaiah 49:1 KJV)
