Reports show gun ownership increases(MA)

Guess what? Firearms ownership by private citizens is at all-time high while violent crimes are near an all-time low.

This is not a report from the National Rifle Association, but rather from the FBI and the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

In addition, a recent ABC News Poll showed that nearly three-fourths (73 percent) of the public endorses the Second Amendment, which protects rights of individuals to own guns.

This is interesting, the high percentage of ownership, as I know from limited experience there are many gun owners who do not claim ownership as their mate does not believe in it, and do not know, that guns are in their house.

I cannot understand anyone who does not want to be able to protect their family from invasion by felons who are intent on a broad range of heinous crimes. Even less understandable is the “ostrich” who believes it can not happen to them, their family or the neighborhood.

And in hunting more and more women are joining the gun-purchasing public.

Don’t know about MA but we went to “The Big Show” gun show here in Reno this past weekend and by the looks of it uncle obie is gonna’ be up for salesman of the year once again. This show was BIG. An acre and a half of exhibits. Hand truck after hand truck of ammo going out the door. Folks were lined up first thing Friday morning in the ticket line and inside was packed. Are all these folks un-employed? Or did they just take off work to pick up a couple extra boxes of ammo? In any case at $10/ea to get in it looks like somebody made some money this weekend.

Helping keep mankind warm for 65 years.

I will repeat myself again and again. ANY ONE STUPID ENOUGH TO REGISTER THEIR GUNS WITH THIS GOVERNMENT, WHETHER CITY, COUNTY, STATE OR FEDERAL, IS EITHER VERY STUPID or VERY TRUSTING. I need only to remind everyone what they did right after HURRICANE KATRINA. The city of New Orleans, with the help of the sheriff’s dept, went to every house that had a registered gun and confiscated all of them. Up to now, none of the weapons they confiscated have been returned to their owners. So, all of you have been warned

I went to the Ohio Gun Collectors gun show on Saturday (11/16/12). It was mobbed. It was hard to get through the aisles. Prices were up since the previous show 2 months ago. My best estimate, a rough average, about 5% increase. Didn't see a lot of ammo being moved, but it isn't that kind of a show. Mostly guns, especially collectibles. Highest price I saw was $25K for a genuine, full-automatic M-14. Too rich for my blood.
