I believe it was 70% after a certain level, but you could deduct a large portion of “expenses”. I was born in 1954 : )
You’re assuming income taxes are the only taxes that support the system. Also how many times in just the last couple of days have I seen posted comments about how the rich will find ways to push the tax increases onto everyone else ergo those people you claim aren’t supporting the system actually are supporting the system through higher prices.
I did so, and thanks.
yeah right, maybe he drives a Yugo
lolz
Most leases are called Net-Net-Net leases.
Taxes—Insurance — and maintenance are part of that.
I was still pretty naive when I moved out there, I had no idea that there were people will to admit they wanted the government to rob from people working and give them the money so they didn’t have to work. I had a few frustrating conversations.
In the 80’s, I was riding a competitive horse event in the Malibu hills. We were coming to the top of the ridge, where we could see all the way to Catalina Island. Just below us was the new home of Michael Landon, under construction.
Another lady riding with me was appalled that Landon could own such a nice place. (I knew it was Landon’s because a fire sprinkler company I worked for was doing their work there, and I recognised the plans I had seen in the office.) She was really mad that ONE PERSON should have all that land, house & money.
I got after her—told her that Michael EARNED every single penny of that money. He wasn’t a criminal—he didn’t rob banks or print money, etc. I told her it was his money to do with as he wished. He wished to build a nice house for himself, his wife, and his 7 children. He was never in any kind of trouble with the law. He wasn’t a scandal in the Hollywood jet set. He was well thought of in the entire community.
Then I proceeded to tell her that Michael was NOT doing all that work himself—he hired masons- concrete workers—framers—carpenters—cabinet makers—roofers—landscapers—plumbers, electricians, etc. He bought many appliances and other materials for the house. When it was done, it was expected to be a $7 million project.
Since alot of that money was spent on other trades & services, I reminded her that Michael was being one of the biggest ‘employers’ in the Malibu area in that year.
She got the drift and shut her mouth.
Amazing! Most of the time when you use logic to work them into a corner from which there is no retreat, what I get is: "Well, that may be, but I don't believe it!" and they stomp off.
It’s like when you see a corporate jet, “they” think “Plutocrat robber baron one percenter” and I think “look at all the jobs.”
These idiots have to start realizing that it is the rich who drive this economic system and without them, it collapses. As I often say, I've never once had a poor person give me a job.
Ohio University years ago studied the effect of spending per student in Ohio. What they found was an INVERSE relationsip between per caita expenditures and student outcomes. The less a school system spent, the better the students did.
Of course, you can figure out thst the rural school systems did much better than the urban ones AT A BETTER PRICE. oTHER FACTORS ARE MORE IMPORTANT THAN THE MONEY SPENT.
