“Recently, NASA announced some results from SAM after analyzing samples of Mars air. Interestingly, clues as to Martian atmospheric history were uncovered. Also, mission scientists announced an apparent dearth of methane in the air — a result that undoubtedly frustrated many hoping for the detection of the gas that may, ultimately, reveal the presence of sub-surface microbial life.”

So all of the satellites orbiting Mars that detected methane were wrong???

I’m definitely curious but I also recognize a need for a certain degree of hype.

A Twinkie left there by the Viking craft in the late 70s. Unwrapped. As fresh as the day it was baked.

But with a bite missing.

I hope this is not a Trump-style blockbuster announcement.

“We have reason to believe that there are large areas on Mars that the sun shines on. We are trying to verify this.”

What HAS Curiosity Discovered?
The same as all the other probes have discovered - nothing.
When are the American people going to wake up and realize NASA =

Don't forget that the lead scientists have exclusive access to the data for several months so they can write their papers. I suppose it's because they are being paid in NASA dollars, and they could make more elsewhere.

They discovered that cats live on Mars, but unfortunately it ran over one....so the next days' headlines were "Curiosity Killed the Cat."

Thank you, I'll be here all week, please make sure to tip your waiters and waitresses...try the veal.

Actually I thought it was pretty big news that they found that radiation levels on the ground are similar to what our low earth orbiting experience.
