If they were a member of the union that caused the strike, even if they voted against it, they do NOT get unemployment.

I really, really hope that is the case. Poetic justice at its best

I hear that the company leading the running is Bimbo, the Mexican equivalent of Hostess. I'd be willing to bet that they just buy the name and the recipe rights to the Hostess pastry line, then run the production out of Mexico. They aren't going to want to chance having to deal with the baker's unions, et al, in this country.
*************************************************

They will not be produced in Mexico even if they buy them. They have 49 bakeries in this county. They are the largest US bakery.
Believe it or not, they already deal with the bakers union. They do have a few areas in the county that are controlled by the bakers union. I know the Entenmanns routes in south Florida are union, as are most of the routes in New York.

I own a Bimbo bread route. We work out of the same Depot as the Entenmanns unionized route people. We also have a Thomas English muffin bakery on site. I will say that that most of the people that work there are pretty decent. The route people are mostly a bunch of older man.

The bakery people are mostly black. It is a brutal job in the bakery. Especially in south Florida. There is no AC in the bakery and with the ovens going, it is really almost intolerable. I can't take walking though the bakery for more than a minute. Luckily, I rarely have to go in there, and I avoid it like the plague.

Don’t have to deal with unions. Use existing facilities in right to work states. Run the place with temps if you wish. Unions are screwing things up worse than illegals

Bimbo already owns bakeries in the US. They’ll turn out former Hostess products close to their market.

that was my take on it.
wasnt really about hostess, it was a turf war between the teamsters and the milners union.

18,500 Americans lose their jobs just before Christmas and the knuckledragging union goons declare victory! LOL! Commies are proof that you can’t fix stupid.

So where do the unions stand with those companies?

Don't know the details, but I believe they are union shops.

"That’s serious money for driving a local truck."

That's for sure! My brother certainly didn't even come close to that kind of dough - if he eve made $35,000, I'll eat my hat.

Good for Hostess. I will still get my Twinkies, even though they may be made in Mexico. Most of what we buy comes from outside the US, so what’s the big deal. Big labor made this bed, and now they need to lie in it.

From Hostess to Bimbo, the story of America.

Now that's funny right there. LOL!

Just Google a key phrase from the article and WSJ.
Google has an agreement with WSJ and others (NYT) to bypass the paywall.

The unemployment bennies must be very good in Racine Wisc because they chose unemployment.

Not a chance. Those union dopes make insanely high wages for doing next to nothing most of the time. It's nearly criminal exchange (something for nothing). Even worse than gubmint drones.

Even the Cadillac program of welfare bennies won't come close to replacing the stupid money they were earning stealing.
