Here’s how I see it. If a child wants to pray over her lunch at school during lunch hour, say a Catholic making the sign of the cross and quietly praying. That is a first amendment right. But that is entirely different from taking a whole class to a movie that has for it’s theme a Christian Holy Day. They need to be learning to read, write and spell, not having parties.
You take your kid to that movie! You teach your child about Christ and Christmas. That is Your job not a public school teachers job.
Oh, you want them to get an education!
You'd have to send them to a Catholic school for that.
Don’t know your age..
But I will say this.
This country was founded on Judeo/Christian values, was it not?
The majority, today at least, in this country are Christian.
If you travel to another country with a different religion, Christians are not accomadated. So much for this pc crapola.
If a parent of a minority (at least today) religion wants to opt out of their child going to see a Christian production..that is fine with me. Let the majority go. In my mind it is pretty simple.
The real problem is that education is “public” (government-funded). If most schools were private, taking children to see a Christmas play at a church wouldn’t be an issue at all. The parents who wanted their children to see Christmas plays would enroll their children into schools that celebrated Christmas. Other parents would choose other schools. And everyone would be happy.
