I grew up exactly the way you did and it was wonderful. Shoot I grew up
In Catholic schools in the 50’s. But America was a more homogeneous country then. And it was not a good thing in every single way.

Do you want to go back to segregation, to women not getting higher education,
To Latinos being nothing more than gardeners and gays being shoved into the dark corners of society? Of course you don’t.

We have to look back and accept that the end of white, Christian, male privilege is over.

There is a positive side. In my community and at my job, there are all kinds of people, black, white, gay straight, religious and nonreligious living and working side by side. My boss is Latina, her boss is gay, the blbacks I work with are prospering. and I am so glad I lived to experience this.

All is not lost. I think more than anything the media gives the impression that there is constant chaos going on in America. But when I walk out my front door and go into real life with all its new diversity everthing is great. Sometimes I think I am lucky and living in a bubble.

But it just might be that if there was no media brining us news of every wacko
Lawsuit, grievance group and malcontent we could get the big picture that there are changes that are good and the media are the ones living in a bubble.

You (and your ideology) are the reason that Obama won, and that the USA is in its sunset years. There is no such thing as "white, Christian, male privilege" and there never was. Success has always been possible for those who pursue the American dream, regardless of race, color, or creed (even during the depths of slavery some black men and women achieved great things!).

What has made America great is its CULTURE. Period. Unlike most countries, where you are a citizen because of your birth (see Japan), America is open to all. It is an IDEA, not a place... and idea open to anyone who wishes to live by it.

But you and your ilk are dissatisfied with the responsibilities that come with that idea. You want to pick and choose what part of American culture is important. That's just as stupid as trying to build a pyramid from the top down. When you tear down the base of the culture, only a fool still expects the structure to still stand.

America was built on Judeo-Christian ideals and work-ethic (which is why our increasingly secular society is slouching into poverty and economic ruin). You want to excise that, yet still enjoy the benefits of that culture. You are a fool.

I went to school with black kids. My best friend in jr. high was a black girl. I grew up in So. Fla. and my best neighborhood friends were Cubans. Their mother didn’t even speak English but her husband did and they were very good friends with my mom.

My uncle (my mother’s brother in law) was Jewish and the whole family loved him.

And women went to college. Not in the numbers they do now, but they could if they wanted to. And I never, ever saw a Whites Only sign anywhere when I was growing up.

As for homosexuals - we had a male couple living next door for awhile when I was a kid and nobody egged their house or anything. Of course, they weren’t parading around the neighborhood forcing everyone to “celebrate diversity”, either.

Personally, I wish they would all get back in their little closets.

I work with a lot of black women and I love them. We all get along and have a good time together.

So America has always been a “melting pot” and we survived. The difference now is people like Obama are trying to pit one special group against another. That only serves to stir our “melting pot”.

First and foremost, we should all be Americans who want what is best for America - not for special interest groups! And put God back into our society!

Off my soapbox and going to get a cup of coffee!

You are living in a fog. A fog where you fear losing your job for expressing a different (read: truthful) opinion, so you go along to get along, and after years of grinding on that, pretend how great it all is.

The stark reality is that each minority group you named has learned that identity politics is their way to power -- they could not bend Western Civiilization to their will, and so they intend to break it. Just because you drink coffee with these people doesn't mean sh!t.
