Kelley awarded Joint Chiefs' No. 2 medal for civilians

TAMPA -- Before she became enmeshed in a controversy that would take down the director of the CIA, Jill Kelley was considered so valuable to the MacDill Air Force Base community that she was awarded the Joint Chiefs of Staff's second-highest honor to a civilian.

The award was approved by then-Adm. Mike Mullen, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff at the time, and presented to Kelley on March 18, 2011, by then-Gen. David Petraeus at a ceremony in Washington.

The award recommendation initially was made by Petraeus while he was commander of U.S. Central Command, said Navy Cmdr. Patrick McNally, spokesman for the office of the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

Because of problems with the award application, it was resubmitted on Oct. 21, 2010, by Marine Gen. James Mattis, who replaced Petraeus as head of the command.

Kelley was recognized for "outstanding public service to the United States Central Command, the MacDill Air Force Base community and the Department of Defense from October 31, 2008 to May 31, 2010," according to the award citation. "Mrs. Kelley distinguished herself by exceptional service while supporting the mission of the United Central Command, building positive relationships between the military and the Tampa community, supporting community outreach, and advancing various military endeavors."

The citation also states that Kelley's "willingness to host engagements with Senior National Representatives from more than 60 countries was indicative of her support for both the Coalition's effort and the mission of United States Central Command."

Kelley's now-iconic Bayshore Boulevard house, seen worldwide on media reports and lampooned on "Saturday Night Live," was a focus of the award.

Giving new meaning to the phrase “served” the military.

What countries?

With that sort of access, whom did she serve?

She spoke Arabic, so presumably a lot of these people were from ME countries.

Also, I’m really wondering if there’s some sort of Scientology connection in all this. Tampa-St Pete is stuffed with Scientologists (that’s where their mother ship is located). A lot of city and local government officials are Scientologists, often covertly, and she was very connected with many top people in city government.

I read a lot about them and their influence in the area during the Terri Schiavo killing, which of course had Scientologists all through it.

Many of them unstable, high-flying grifters who promote strange financial deals and get ahead by influencing powerful people, particularly in government. This woman was not a “socialite” in any sense of the term, but she might have had access to all these people through Scientology.

The whole situation is so bizarre. That people like these Kardashian look (and act) alikes should have had access to and influence on our highest military (and government) figures defies rational explanation.

Apparently one of the qualifications for this award is having a D-cup.

The Defense budget should be pared down to take out stupid stuff like this.

What next, the NFL or the NBA offering special honors to their groupies who ‘give the most’ to their players?

I served with a guy of equal grade in 1992 who screwed up a Summary Court-martial Case he was detailed to execute.

Our immediate boss, a Colonel, gave it to me to clean up. Pretty hard to screw up a case when they give you a freaking guide to follow and a phone number to a JAG waiting to answer any questions you may have.

The guy’s ass that I saved by taking care of his mess is now a Brigadier General.

Go figure.

Our guys who have served on the front lines of Iraq and Afghanistan, often ending up with missing limbs, are a remarkable generation. Raised in a toxic, hedonistic culture, when confronted with the reality of war, they have shown grit, determination, and courage.

On the other hand, overseeing their deployments are a bunch of politically correct generals (and admirals) who know how to play the media and the Congress like a fiddle.

My favorite in the growing list of scandals is the general demoted one star for stealing $80 thousand. He was head of our “Africa Command,” headquartered .. guess where. No, certainly not in Africa. Stuttgart, Germany.

After seeing the pic, it would appear that someone must have wanted to ..... uh, what’s the right word.... “attach” the award to her.....uh, the upper portion of her dress. Yeah, that’s it. All the while saying alllllaaaaaaa crackbar.

These folks are poor judges of character after getting too high in the food chain. Tend to lose their brains after a while on simple things even if they are still savvy about warcraft.

Helping keep mankind warm for 65 years.

Time to start another investigation. There is seriously something wrong with this whole sister thing.
