Great analysis of the commercials; my sons now pick out the obvious contradictions between the utopia conjured up by the media and the reality they see around them every day. Given that they are all still in grammar school, they’re off to a good start.
To counter this media blitz on our way of life, I always point out to them how much of what they see around them was built by people who looked like them; the electronic begging of the fundraising ads for the Third World shows them what they need to know about those places...
That’s really a stretch; I live a few miles from where the Giants & Jets play, and couldn’t imagine any impact at all from a strike. Jets fans will be obnoxious drunks regardless of whether there are games or not, and Giants fans will always take the high road...

Pointing out the complete disconnect between the MSM’s “reality” and the real world’s “reality” is one of the best gifts one can have. Talk about the proverbial separation of wheat from chaff. Actually, I would peg that gift as a survival tool for these times.

AMEN to that. I remember the pseudo-milk carton thingys we used to get at school for money for the “poor kids”...and that was 30+ years ago. Those scammers should have collected enough ca$h to feed the solar system, let alone this planet.

The guy’s making money off endorsements now...I figure there must be a 10 year “cool off” period for non-convicted murderers to ca$h in on their notoriety.

I’m sorry, but I was scarred in my youth by attending my only Jets game (when they played at Shea Stadium). They lost the game (of course), and as we were filing out of our seats we had to edge around a mulleted fan standing silently with both middle fingers raised racing the field; as we approached the exit someone nearly hit a security guard on the field by “hammer-tossing” (Olympic-style) a small cooler off the upper tier. When I described this to a co-worker, they described how they had attended a Jets game (also at Shea Stadium) where somebody shot an emergency flare (the type used on boats) across the stadium from the upper tier on one side into the other.
I already described how for a long time they couldn’t have the Monday night games; I guess that is the reason why...
As for the 10 year “cool off” period, I can’t believe that former NY governor Spitzer (that was involved with the call girls) already has a TV show. What a disgrace; who watches these freaks?
It was an old one (when South Park was funny); I haven’t seen new episodes for a while (though I did see part of one with TSA agents molesting people that looked funny).

Dear God, what you described sounds more like a cross between “Apocalypse Now” and “Animal House” than a paying sports event.
I wouldn’t go again either, nor can I be surprised why there were no Jets home games on MNF.

I understood that; I meant that just because it wasn’t lung cancer (many of them are cervical - nether - or breast) doesn’t make people scratch their heads when a “cancer survivor” is puffing away - aiming for another type of cancer...

Are you kidding? Do you know what Jets fans act like when they are watching games worth $18/ticket? This is the worst time for anyone with anything to lose to go to a Jets game!
Already happened. Writer on NFL.com said had Tebow not insisted on dressing, Greg McElroy could have played, entered the game, and led them to a victory. Tebow’s fault.
