Before the dinner, Sen introduced Obama to his wife, Bun Rany, who greeted Obama with a traditional "sampeah" pressed-hands greeting that is normally reserved for servants.
"Was the first lady getting her own back over the president's harsh words earlier to her husband or did she simply forget that she was shaking hands with the leader of the free world?" the Daily Mail asked.
According to the Daily Mail, the slight was not noticed by Obama or his advisers, but it "would have been picked up by a great many people throughout Southeast Asia region."

Obama actually had it right, it’s the other party that is dissing him. But I’m going to back off what I said anyway, because apparently it’s not the exact same greeting as the Thai wai.

She is sooooooo grateful to be here, a USA Citizen, very Patriotic, HARD worker, super nice & a fantastic cook, learning from her Mom on a farm that got destroyed.
