For O.C. Republicans, party's immigration stance is a millstone
LA Times ^

Orange County was once an instant synonym for Republican power, and the GOP's dominance looked impregnable. Now, battered by the recent election results and dismayed by the slow, steady decline in party registration, Republicans here are struggling to craft a new strategy.

The percentage of registered Republicans has eroded — it now stands at 41% — and the party has long since lost control of the political districts that envelop the county seat of Santa Ana, a Latino-dominated city of 330,000, and surrounding communities in the county's core.

This month's election brought more blows. For the second time, the once-red city of Irvine voted for Barack Obama over the Republican candidate. And a northwestern chunk of the county fell to the Democrats when GOP Assemblyman Chris Norby, an outspoken conservative, lost to Latina schoolteacher Sharon Quirk-Silva.

Asked to explain the loss, Scott Baugh, chairman of the county's Republican Party, attributed it to "not fully appreciating the demographic shift and not seeing it in time."

A millstone with illegal voters.

Illegals are a millstone for the whole damn state.

Aside from their value as Democrat voters, what else do illegals contribute to the state? As opposed to what they cost the state?

California is finished. They brought in millions and want millions more illegal Mexicans. There is nothing these GOPers can do to stop it. LEGAL Mexicans collect welfare at 8x the rate of other immigrants, according to CIS.org. And 71% of ILLEGALS collect as least one form of welfare. Why would they vote Republican ever? These RINOs can shout “Amnesty NOW!” from the rooftops and these Mexicans will vote Democrat every time. Because Latinos do NOT “share our values” of “family, entrepreneurship, and religion....blah blah blah” as Huckabee and other morons always tell us. They share the Democrat “values” of welfare state entitlement, as do Blacks and increasingly Asians. The answer? MOVE.

Illegal aliens ARE NOT immigrants. They are criminals who broke our laws as soon as they crossed the border.

If nobody (such as Congress) gives a shiite, then the distinction is moot. The criminals are, de facto, immigrants. That's part of what this past election showed us.

I saw a TV commercial last night for some insurance or investment company -- it waxed poetic about people living the American dream, putting up the flag, saying the pledge, and how "millions come here every year to reinforce this ideal." I had to leave the room before I PUKED!!!!

Foolish Republicans and Democrats, illegals have deep roots in their respective countries, so, as a result, they will continue to push for amnesty, they will not stop until all of their relatives are here; thus, it will never end. The law is the law, it’s our foundation, we can not place certain individuals above it based on the color of their skin or country of origin or this nation will fail!

The Dems plead "fairness" and "compassion" while also screaming "rule of law" is racial code words. Your strategy was tried in CA and the GOP is irrelevant at the state level and fast becoming so locally.

Even San Diego's now flipped with this election and probably gone for good.

You can be sure that Parkland Hospital is getting mucho federal dollars or they could not afford to support the illegal onslaught.
