You said, “America can send a man to the moon but you are the “indispensable” man.”.

Von Braun was a German immigrant rocket scientist who did a great deal of the work to facilitate that launch.

Once American might ground Germany into dust, Von Braun became a war spoil.

While he wasn't American by birth, he was American by conquest. Once integrated into the American machine, his talents were used to their highest potential.

There's no evidence that Von Braun would have been part of any moon landing had he remained in Germany or emigrated to any other country.

A lot Asians see Republicans as the party for white nativists and fundamentalists, not different from how Jews see Republicans. And the distribution of Asian incomes means that Obama’s $200k/$250k floor on tax increases puts relatively few feeling under personal attack. An Asian Presidential or Vice Presidential nominee or an Obama renewed push on affirmative action or against Asian sinecures like Stuyvesant and Bronx Science in New York might shake that, but I don’t know.

I’m of Asian Indian origin. I’ll say first off that it’s hard to box all asians in a group because it’s a pretty wide ranging group, like Americans are. There are the rich and well educated who work in high tech and there are the poor illegals who work and live in ethnic communities. There are those, like me, who are born in the US and are American from the ground up. There are also some who immigrate to the US and assimilate well into society.

Firstly, a lot of Chinese, Japanese, Koreans, Filipinos etc etc don’t consider Asian Indians to be like them at all. I don’t think a lot of Asian Indian immigrants swung the vote over to Obama because a lot of them don’t become US citizens. Many want to retain their Indian citizenship so that they can return to India as they please, and if you ask them what they think about US politics, many say that it’s not their country and they don’t care. One of my coworkers was telling me how terrible it is in America because in India he had a large mansion and two servants. This is a well educated Indian with a masters degree from MIT. In the business world a lot of them don’t care much outside of the almighty dollar. I guess this could make them somewhat conservative but many of them don’t pay taxes on all of their income. Asking for payment in cash is common in indian owned businesses. It’s just how they do things. There is rampant tax cheating. It’s not their country. They don’t care.

As for Chinese, Japanese etc. I think the super PAC ads showing China plotting to take over the world did a LOT of damage. It may be the truth that China is plotting to take over the world, but it sure didn’t help advertising this to Asian Americans and then saying, “vote for me.” Truth is that a lot of them are loyal to mother China. There have been quite a few incidents where Chinese US citizens have been caught spying for China, and God alone knows how many haven’t been caught and/or publicized in the media.

It is a fact that in general, immigrant citizens vote democrat. This is because they view Republicans as being anti-immigrant, pro-white and nativist. Most immigrants in my experience are in favor of amnesty for illegal aliens. It’s a numbers game. If there are more of “them” than there are of “us” (US born) then “they” get to vote themselves into power. Obama granting amnesty via his DREAM act executive order helped a lot in this regard. And finally, most of the world is socialist and immigrants want the USA to be more like “home.” Free healthcare is a big deal, free this, free that, the rich will pay. They don’t like guns either. They are pro islam too and think that for their countries to succeed that America must be knocked down a peg or two. One only has to look at someone like Fareed Zakaria to see how they think.

So what’s the solution? Not amnesty, not more H-1B, not more immigration. Immigration from Europe or Australia won’t help either, they like socialism too. Maybe it ought to not be so easy to become a citizen. With all of the incidences of spying and general disloyalty to the USA there’s clearly something wrong with the current procedure. But before EVERY election there is a mad rush to speed up naturalization. Americans need to wake up and take this country back, IMO.

Agree.

Reagan would have lost CA and the presidency with today’s demographic. Demographics is destiny. This could be good or bad depending on the cultural make-up of this new bloc of voters in the post Cold War era. Gay marriage would have been unheard of during Reagan’s time. Nor did we have the massive influx of immigration, legal and illegal, Asian and Hispanic, who don’t relate to America’s cultural and religious values. Much of Detroit is now “Little Kabul.” You are right, not all Asians think and vote alike. From anecdotal evidence, I believe that “Christian” Asians (South Indians, Filipinos, and Koreans) generally vote Republican since they abhor the secular trends. But just like you say, for many Chinese and South Asians, they give a rat’s tail about the US and instead worship the almighty dollar.

In California, Orange County was the bastion of conservatism, but no more. Just look at what was once staunchly conservative Republican congressional districts (Palm Springs) going liberal. San Diego now has an openly gay Supervisor as is the Speaker of the California Assembly. No, this was a quiet revolution of culture that took place with the express if not tacit support of our RINOs and those chickens are coming home to roost with a squawking vengeance. Think Bushes’ “compassionate conservatism” and Simpson-Mazzoli amnesty among ideas to be blamed for this rot.
