Something about this story doesn’t add up. The story doesn’t mention if the soldier was granted convalescent leave, or has just been granted a pass from the hospital. It makes a big difference. Normally a soldier on convalescent leave is entitled to air ambulance transportation to a point nearest his home, probably Camp Shelby in his case. I have flown the air ambulance route (Air Force C-9), and it is a pain in the a$$ as are most things military, but it gets you there. Just not when you want and not as convenient as you want. If you don’t like that, you are on your own, subject to the doctor’s orders. I’ve paid the commercial airfare before, rather than wait three days and then take another two or three in transit to get home. You are under superb medical care all along the way, but the rest of it was guaranteed to raise your blood pressure.
I’d like to see some more details and one or two facts, not just the whining account.

Cleared but needs medical attention for travel? Doesn’t sound cleared to me. Usually only hospice patients needs medical care for travel.

I'm not a doctor but it sure as heck doesn't sound like he's ready to be released yet.
Perhaps the mother misunderstood what the doctor was saying?
Does anyone have a Dale Brown book handy? I just finished his last one (Tiger’s Claw) and just took it back to the library but he flies his own planes for air ambulance and had the name of the company on the flyleaf (I think) and he flies out of Sacramento or the Reno area??? The pilots donate their time, planes and expenses. I was going to write it down but thought I’d remember it. Should have known that wasn’t going to happen....

Gail im writing you about a post you did in 2012 on the horn lale ms man taylor odom whose mother needed help bringing him home. Its with deep sadness that i have to say taylor odom commited suicide 2 days ago it was all to much for him. Hos mother has started a gofundme page to bring him home from otegom and bury h if you could help point me in in any dirrection to try and help her id appreciate it. Also i just found this site and want to thank everuone who wanted to help before i wish we had kbown then. And there’s so much that wad left out of his story.. thank u and god bless
