Hmmm, and - of course - those modernization funds would have come from where?
I totally agree that management in that company - and in most companies - is right out of Dilbert.
But take the ineptness and corruptness of management, multiply it by a googol, and we’re approaching a fraction of the sleeze of a typical union leader.
An idiot without proper training becomes a union leader.
An idiot with an MBA becomes a manager.
Precisely. In the end, there are probably a ton of reasons why Hostess is calling it quits, but striking while your company is struggling is not a legitimate approach to saving it.
I believe strongly in incentives, like profit sharing. I think these incentives should also be applied to CEOs. If your company struggles, no matter what your position, you shouldn't do as well. If your company does well, then all should share in the fruits of their efforts.
Unions do to companies what the federal government does to the USA as a whole.
They both pusue an economic model that is unsustainable in the long run.
That is one major reason why the unions have been losing ground for years and why the US is heading towards a fiscal calamity.
Unionized companies pay union employees more than their non-union peers earn in the surounding areas.
It is a form of wealth redistribution through extortion.
Money is redirected from other needs to pay union employees more than their real contribution.
In other words, they take more than they earn for the company.
The federal government engages in the same practivce of wealth redistribution via extortion. They are just more open and blatent about it.
The federal government redirects money from earners or from other national needs to "pay" to people who haven't earned it.
That is exactly the same action that takes place in a labor union / company relationship.
As with the unions, the government is able to do this because they have the power to do it - not because it is right or the best policy for the nation.
The recipients of money, benefits or other wealth that they have not earned are all moochers - some are just able to disguise it a little better and to give it a better sounding label.
MBA’s....the bane of my existence.
Toss in the mix, Six Sigma, and Lean Manufacturing and you understand why businesses fail. Poor quality is the result of sourcing your parts to a single supplier and then when that supplier (who knows that you have no inventory) sends you all of his rejects. At Incoming Inspection, they fail. You call the supplier and they say “sure we can send more in about six to eight weeks”. Magically, this is the current delivery amount. You have no inventory, and you can’t shut down your production...so what do you do? You waive them and hope that it doesn’t blow up in your face.
In Hostess’ case, since they had so much debt, and obligation, you run the machines you have into the ground and hope that you can get yours before the whole thing collapses.
At some point the board of directors knew that it was toast and they managed it on that basis.
“An idiot without proper training becomes a union leader.
An idiot with an MBA becomes a manager.”
QUite right!
and those unable to pass the “Idiot CertificationTest” become commie presstitutes. An example of such presstitute blabbering is the following, taken from his article:
“Now that the bill has come due, Hostess blames the workers for demanding what they were promised.”
Those “promises” were forced by Goonion leaders/members and the NLRB. Nobody “promises” a mere truck driver an annual salary of $!30,000 and benefits on top of that.
Worse yet, the commie presstitute ignores the fact that Bimbo would not have had to file bankruptcy if that greedy Goonion truck driver had agreed to an annual salary of $120,000.
May G*d rot the unions, their members, and the union leaders alike.
