Petraeus, the comeback general. He may benefit from the Bill Clinton rule.

Gen. David H. Petraeus, long the most famous overachiever in the U.S. Army, is already on his way to a new career distinction: breaking the land speed record for rehabilitation from a scandal.

It was only two weeks ago that Petraeus resigned from his job as director of the CIA after it became clear that his affair with his biographer, Paula Broadwell, couldn't be kept under wraps.

The dust hasn't settled yet on the chaos kicked up by the FBI's discovery of the affair, touched off by Broadwell's jealousy of another woman who liked men in uniform. Did Petraeus allow Broadwell to put unauthorized hands on classified information? Did the U.S. commander in Afghanistan, Marine Gen. John Allen, say anything indiscreet in emails to Tampa socialite Jill Kelley? Does the shirtless FBI agent get away scot-free? And did all this madcap socializing affect anyone's performance on their day jobs?

Never mind. We're a fast-moving society — and, it appears, a forgiving one. At home in suburban Virginia, Petraeus is no doubt still making amends to his high-achieving wife. But in the larger world, the retired general is already contending with an avalanche of opportunities for his next big job.

He's had offers to teach from at least four universities and had conversations about seats on corporate boards. He's thinking about giving speeches, writing a book on leadership or even becoming a talking head on television.

And that's not all.

"Down the road, a return to public service isn't out of the question," a friend who talked with Petraeus told me last week. Not as an elected politician but as a potential Cabinet officer in a future administration.

"He just doesn't see himself as a politician," the friend said.

I think the true beleivers will ignore the question if it is accurately phrased.

beleivers s/b believers

Do you recall who posted the early article describing the contingency plans in place for just this type of mission?

Was the General in charge of the Africa
Command removed because he started to implement rescue plans, or complained when he was ordered to Stand Down?

Of course. They won't even ask the right questions. They don't even know the right questions to ask, don't care, and don't want to know.

If we had applied greater force early on, we could have left a lot sooner, thereby, not pissing of the Iraqis as much and never necessitating the Anbar Awakening.

Personally, I think we should have never gone after Iraq at all. However, If we were serious about remaking the Middle East we should have kept rolling after the fall of Baghdad and immediately invaded Iran. Iran would have fallen just as quickly at that time. No nuclear problem and the rest of the Middle East would have fallen into line pretty quickly after that. In fact, the world would be kissing our butts and would fear us. Now, they mock us and deride us. The people who run our country are morons and, I guess, now you can say at least 51% of our participating electorate is also. So, I suppose, we get the leadership that we deserve.

Yes, it’s treason, and half of our fellow Americans support it. IOW, we’re on our way to CW2.

When sex, fraud or corruption scandals occur and Obama doesn't want them to rub off on him, why.....just send any calls for investigation off to a committee or a commission or some special blue ribbon panel somewhere till everything blows over....and the fraud and sex scandals and the corruption will be forever buried deeper than King Solomon's mines.

I agree totally with the following statement which is from my friend Beverly Perlson:

Let’s stop making excuses for General Petraeus. He is disgraceful and has been for a long time. If that makes you uncomfortable, too bad. Michael Behenna is real uncomfortable in his jail cell in Leavenworth too. Kelly Stewart will suffer his entire life with “sex offender” emblazoned on his back and stripped of all the medals and benefits HE EARNED while Petraeus will ride off into the sunshine!

General Petraeus came out verbally and blamed the murder of our fellow Americans on a video. As much as the Congressman on the hill “Can’t explain that first statement by the General and it troubles them so” let’s all be honest about the wimpy behavior of General Petraeus. After all, he ended up changing his report after he found out the boss was going to throw him under the bus. He found out he is expendable.

The truth is the truth! Petraeus is in the same camp with his boss because he chose to be there. He didn’t tell the boss NO, we’re not sending Soldiers out on foot patrol to risk their lives and make an ass out of them to appease you and your brothers! He sure didn’t step in and help Michael Behenna or Kelly Stewart, nope, he didn’t and sure wouldn’t take a stand for his underling boots on the ground brothers. Tough for them. And like the Lt Col told me at dinner with an audience, Michael was tried 3 times and you have to consider what that jury saw that convicted him three times. We didn’t get into Kelly Stewart but I’m sure he would say the same thing about Kelly and the evidence the jury saw that convicted him 3 times. You lying Lt Col, you know and I know it is the evidence the jury DIDN’T HEAR that would have mattered and it is time Lt Colonels AND ALL THE BRASS SUPPORTED THOSE BOOTS ON THE GROUND BROTHERS OF THEIRS that they say they love and honor who are risking their lives and limbs living a failed policy they all support, from afar!

President Obama is in Thailand, called a press conference, said he condemns bombs dropping on Israel, BUT HE DIDN”T SAY HE WOULD IMMEDIATELY STOP SENDING MONEY to HAMAS.

If you have any Jewish friends who voted for Obama, well, actions have consequences, tell them to call Obama if they are upset about the bombing of Israel and make sure you let them know you voted for Israel when you voted for Romney.

Here in Illinois, I have family who live in Cook County and in January taxes will upset them more than me as I live in DuPage County. When they whine and complain, I will ask them who they voted for and tell them elections have consequences. At Christmas when my generous heart normally celebrates the hard work my family endures all year long and I lavish gifts on those I love, well, for those in my family who voted for Obama, they will have to suffer the consequences of their actions as I have to tighten my belt now because they voted for Obama to steal money from me and my hard working fellow Americans.

Behaviors have consequences, especially reckless behavior. An underling boots on the ground Soldier told me it’s KARMA.
