The State Department could have arranged a med-evac flight either commercially or with the cooperation of the USAF.Let's cure a misconception: We may have free Obamaphones but the U.S. Government is not responsible for repatriating U.S. citizens. The government is certainly not paying the costs. Otherwise any American who wanted to travel overseas could just buy a one-way ticket to anywhere and fly home free.

Obamaphones
Everytime I see this I have to laugh. We they Bushphones in early 2000’s? It does have a better ring with Obamaphones then Bushphones. Both presidents had the program and in fact, it was President Bush who began the program. Shouldn’t surprise anyone since he started the drug program, No child left behind and Homeland Security...big government the both of them.

She was not an expatriot, she was simply a US citized abroad. The government will assist in a medical return. That is exactly what was done for me. They will also expect reimbursement.
