According to a report in Army Radio, Feiglin placed 14 in the primaries, meaning he will be placed 15th on its Knesset’s list (Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu as party chairman has the number one spot).

The results mark a victory for the more nationalist members of the Likud, who took the higher spots on the list. It also means that members such as Begin and Meridor, who were considered to be more moderate, have gotten an unrealistic spot and will likely not be in the next Knesset.
Also left off the list was Minister Michael Eitan who ranked 30th, according to Army Radio.

What does this mean?
There are no districts. Voters vote only for a party. Every party gets seats in the Knesset (Parliament) based on the percentage of the vote. (The Knesset has 120 members; if a party gets 10% of the vote, they get 12 seats.)
Before the election, each party publishes a list of their candidates, in numerical order. If a party wins ten seats, the first ten names on their list are elected.
In this instance, if a candidate is 24th on the Likud slate, they will not be elected unless Likud wins at least 20% of the vote.

Exactly. This has been a good day for the right. Ehud’s gone. Feiglin’s in, despite all that Bibi could do. So now he’ll have to swerve right to keep his support.

The larger parties do this by primaries.
In the likud party primary, just finished today, the candidate with the most votes gets highest on the list, second only to the party head, or at least when he’s PM. I’m not sure how it works when the party’s out of power. The runner up is No. 3, 3rd place is no. 4, etc. And for the cherry on top, the “princes,” those left-wing sons and grandsons of the Likud founders, might very well be shut out, because they got the least votes. Good riddance.

In December 2005, Feiglin ran for Likud chairman and won 12.5% of the votes. He came in third out of seven candidates, after Benjamin Netanyahu and Silvan Shalom. He attempted to run for a slot on the party’s Knesset list, but encountered severe opposition from Netanyahu, who delayed party elections and advocated making changes to its charter to bar “anyone who has served three or more months in prison” from running as a Likud MK. This would have prevented Feiglin, who served a six-month sentence in the mid-90s for civil disobedience, from running for either an MK or leadership position in the future. Feiglin withdrew from the race on January 3, 2006, following the release of a statement from the Likud party election chairman declaring, in agreement with a prior decision by the Israeli High Court, that Feiglin’s conviction was not for “dishonorable” violations of the law, allowing him to participate in future Likud affairs.[18]
In the August 14, 2007 primaries, Feiglin nearly doubled his previous showing and received 23.4 percent of the votes to Netanyahu’s 72.8 percent. Netanyahu, fearing a strong showing by Feiglin, tried to have him ousted from the party prior to the vote, and has said he will continue such efforts.[19] On December 10, 2008 Feiglin was voted to the 20th place in Likud primaries.[20] On December 11, following a petition submitted against him by Ophir Ekonis, he was demoted to the 36th spot.[21]

100%. Bibi talks a good talk, but has kept his old commander Ehud Barak on the job, destroying Jewish homes in Judah and Samaria, and buckling to Obama when he should have stood firm. Feiglin walked the walk, even did time for civil disobedience, and Bibi’s scared of him.
Not his brightest idea. But he wants to annex Judah and Samaria, and give Arabs incentive packages to emigrate.
Paying them to leave is a good idea... could we pay leftists to move to Cuba, North Korea or something??
Send them there on scholarships for advanced degrees. If only a few of them have an epiphany and come back anti-commie, it’ll be worth it. If none of them do, at least they’ll be out of the country, and maybe they’ll shack up with someone special and decide to stay and pick rice or some damned thing for the rest of their lives.

Moshe Feiglin’s election has nothing at all to do with Communism. Feiglin never has been accused of being a Communist or even a left-winger. He has conservative values and believes that the State of Israel should embody Jewish religious values as a cultural matter (e.g., without coercive legislation: He is opposed to legally mandating circumcision of Jewish children, for example), and attributes much of the leftward drift of the state to the secularist hegemony of the ruling group. This election is very good news.
