Exit Polls Prove US Still a Red State Nation

The dust may still be settling on the 2012 election, but there is good reason for conservatives to find optimism for the future.

Recently, I found such hope reviewing the full exit poll data from our recent election.

The bottom line on the presidential race was this: Mitt Romney lost the election because voters liked him less than Barack Obama.

Despite claims otherwise, the election was not a referendum on Obama’s record or even red state values versus blue state values.

Obama and the Democrats have claimed a “mandate,” but the data shows voters actually oppose President Obama’s programs like Obamacare and reject his statist approach to governing.

Instead, the polling indicates America remains firmly a red state nation, with conservative values.

The exit polls do note that Hispanic and black voters cast their ballots in large numbers for Obama, with the president pulling 71 and 93 percent of their votes, respectively.

Had Romney pulled the same amount of Hispanic votes as George W. Bush did in 2004, the election this year would have been nearly tied.

Also, Obama, the first black president, had an unusually enthusiastic African-American vote. In 2012, 13 percent of the electorate were African American, up from 11 percent in 2004.

What this means is that an energized black vote gave Barack Obama an additional 2.5 million votes.

Next time, if Republicans woo some Hispanic voters and black voting patterns normalize, 2016 could see Republicans increasing their vote share by some 4 to 5 million voters in a similar, highly contested race.

In my view, 2012 was winnable for the GOP. They simply fielded a weak candidate.

To the title: if we're a red nation that keeps electing Democrats, I don't see that it makes any difference.

"Next time, if Republicans woo some Hispanic voters and black voting patterns normalize"

Woo Hispanic voters...uh-huh. Meaning support amnesty, or offer up a candidate based on race. They can do it without my help.

The Under 30’s are utterly ambivalent on any issue of consequence, and they are constantly spoon-fed personalized propaganda via Twitter and social media.

It’s nearly Game Over, I’m afraid.

So stupid voters knew that Obama’s policies are bad for the economy, but because they “like” him better than Mitt, then that is the reason they voted for him? How can any of us say we like a politician without having a personal relationship with that person? Much like people watch and vote for people on reality shows, who they think they “know.” They don’t know them - they only see a a few minutes of a person who is portrayed in a good light - or bad light in Mitt’s case.

Americans can be some of the stupidest people on the face of the earth. Voting for someone they “like” when they don’t even know that person.

Remember the Youtube video of interviews with Obama supporters in 2008? Total idiots who had no idea what Obama stood for or who he was but couldn’t wait to vote for him. When did Americans get so stupid? You would think with the internet, we would all be much smarter now. My parents were much more informed when all they had was radio and newspapers!

RE: People are voting on likability, not the actual job the person is doing.

Let’s put competence aside for the moment...

As far as likability is concerned, can someone please explain to me what makes Obama “likable”?

I mean, looking at Romney and Obama from a personal point of view, I’d say Romney looks like the more likable of the two.

And people find Old Crazy Joker Uncle Joe more likable than
Paul Ryan?

What’s this world coming to?

So true. 10 years from now people will wonder how did we ever elect these
two fools two times......

When the 20’s hit their 30’s and the freebies run out, they will realize they
fell for “ smoke & mirrors” not “ hope , change, forward”

I am of Hispanic origin and I vote solidly conservative. I had to hold my nose and for for McLame and Mittens but they were both better than Dear Leader.

I am not saying amnesty is the answer just that Hispanics are conservative.

I believe we had a shot at it in ‘12 and blew it. I believe we have another shot in ‘16, but by 2020, the Latino demographic increases will guarantee there will never be another GOP prez. Amnesty will just accellerate this condition.

I agree re 2012, but I think it will take either a catastrophic Obama screw up over the next four years, or a fantastically strong GOP candidate/superweak Dem candidate for the Republicans to have a chance at the White House even in 2016. Illegal aliens are getting their paperwork in order as we speak by the millions, getting ready to process their citizenship. Obama will have the bureaucrats working at warp speed to manufacture as many new Democrat voters as possible by the end of his term.
