I only say “Yes, sir” and “No, sir” to people older than me. Most cops also go by that “rule”. In fact, even though I’m not crazy about cops, I’ll say most are fairly respectable. But when one goes overboard, he should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
When I say I’m not crazy about cops, it’s ones like this that make me feel this way. There are way too many who are on power trips and way too many who have no idea the restraints of the constitution. Maybe I should say “former” restraints.
Same here. But I do remember when a couple cops stopped me and some friends, who were walking around the neighborhood one night, to question what we were doing. I couldn't help myself and made up some story that was obviously manufactured to see what they would do. One asked me if he looked stupid to me. I politely said, "Yes sir". He did a double take and his partner chuckled and told him that he had asked... I'm glad they were decent folks and these days I regret the youthful exercise. I have found most cops to be decent and not apt to go bonkers on you without reason. I don't know if I could be the same way if I had to deal with a lot of the folks they have to deal with.
