Fox News Ends Interview after left-wing journalist calls Benghazi"small firefight"

Fox News abruptly ended an interview Monday after author Thomas Ricks accused the network of bias.

During an interview with Jon Scott, Ricks, a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and author of The Generals, accused Fox of hyping up the recent attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi.

"When you have four people dead for the first time in more than 30 years, how do you call that hype?" Scott demanded.

"How many security contractors died in Iraq? Do you know?" Ricks responded. "Nobody does, because nobody cared."

Ricks went on to describe the attack as a "small firefight" before adding: "I think the emphasis on Benghazi has been extremely political, partly because Fox is operating as a wing of the Republican Party."

Following that statement, Scott thanked Ricks and ended the interview.

RIcks is an asshat.

It wasn't just that an Ambassador and diplomats were tortured and killed, as a opposed to defense contractors.

It's the fact that when we had personnel killed in Iraq by terrorist factions, the WH wasn't out there, weeks later, still trying to insist that the the attacks were NOT "pre-planned", "pre-meditated", and that everything happened spontaneously because people were so upset over a stupid video on YouTube.

Iraq was an open war. What a miscreant.

That people died is indeed a tragedy, and not to be taken lightly or overlooked.

But what is getting lost in this argument, and should ALWAYS be at the very forefront of any discussion of Benghazi is this: These people were allowed to die without assistance or protection from our government - either by evil duplicity or ineptitude.

Yes, 4 people died, but that happens all the time, every day, somewhere.

What is disturbing about Benghazi is the administrations decision NOT TO HELP - In other words, the administration made the decision to LET THEM DIE! and has spun their evil actions to their own advantage.

Can anyone doubt their willingness to apply the same “let them die” response through Obamacare?

I thought Scott was totally wimpy.

He let that idiot insult his network and let him get away with calling a coverup way bigger than watergate a little firefight of no significance without any response!!

I’m sure Ricks and Obama were very happy with the interview.

Guess the Democrats themselves think that if the Ambassador is just a Democrat it's OK for him or her to be killed.

Trying to think that one through because the initial implications are enormous. Must be some secret message there.

Official Reality has been set: Benghazi was no big deal, forget about it.

Yes, so true. Now the Valerie Plame scandal, that rocked the republic to its core. Abu Gharib? Simply the most heinous war-time atrocities since Treblinka.

According to Ricks and all other left wingers - “Just because I say it is true, it is!”

Appears Jon was not prepared for the 'diaglogue' than ensued after his first question. Was wondering; how it was; this arrogant creep, was on camera to begin with - at Fox News. .

No doubt; had Scott imagined this unfolding; he would have zinged him; big time; before closing. It was not 'fear' that kept Jon 'low'. . .but rather surprise; IMHO.

If the paper that Jon 'crinkled' noisily at conclusion, could have talked; it would have been 'bleeped'.

mojito~:” Although we’ve not had a definitive account of what occurred in Benghazi, my understanding is that the “consulate” was assaulted by several hundred individuals, some of them heavily armed.
Both the consulate and the annex were destroyed in the encounter.
A “small firefight” it wasn’t. “

Where are the other 30 witnesses who did survive the attacks. Then we’ll see whether it was a “small firefight”?
Any interviews,.. any documentation ?

Maybe they were expendable too ?
But , more importantly , .... they we WITNESSES !
Where are their interviews ?

I think the USS Pueblo asked for help and none came. If I remember correctly they didn’t want to awaken LBJ.

Yes, it’s rather remarkable that no one who was there has spoken on the record as to what happened.

I don’t believe that any of them have testified before congress, either.

Same logic.

Something like 350,000 American have died in car accidents in since 2001.

So why should our nation’s foreign policy still be influenced by a single event in 2001 when only 3000 people died?

Look at what’s going on in Chicago with those large groups of people roaming around beating on people of another race.

Hear a peep about it? Not much.

I don’t think we need to limit this to Obamacare. This America/White/Capitalism/Republic hating bastard will spread the joy across the spectrum.

I agree the death of the four should not be taken lightly. I also agree he cut them lose and let them die.

For whatever reason, it was expedient for him, and that was all that mattered.

Leftists will sell anyone out at the drop of a hat, as long as it serves their purposes. And they’ll never look back.

Look at the trail of destruction behind the Clintons. Her hands aren’t clean here either.

I didn’t see it, but from the descriptions so far, I’m leaning your direction. For all the name calling, I think Fox News provides far more cover for the Left than we give it credit for.

Why don’t you take a look at the video and decide on your own?

I don’t think Scott was trying to cover for the left, he just wasn’t too quick on his feet.

I can just imagine how Chris Matthews would have reacted in the same situation, or O’Reilly or Hannety or even Greta!

Hey! Tommy! You ain’t been in a firefight lately, Gramps. You had your speech all planned out, didn’t you? You didn’t even attempt to answer the question. Shame on FOX for bringing an idiot like you on. Shame on you for opening your mouth to prove you’re an idiot.

Jon Scott is a professional journalist. An emmy award winner at that. If he was hosting for Hannity your comment might be warranted, but he was not.

Additionally, Jon's son is an Army Lieutenant and West Point Grad. How many journo's can say that?
