Once again highlighting the value of a “liberal arts” education.......NOT!
Back in the day (1958-59) I was fortunate to be a student in Professor Jackson’s freshman English class at Tufts University. The title of the course was “What is God and What is Man?” We read and discussed writings by Plato, Socrates, Thomas Paine, John Stuart Mill and St. Thomas Aquinas among others. When one student objected to reading one Protestant author (I forget who) because he was on the Catholic List of non approved writers, he was told that if he didn’t want a Liberal Arts education, then he should have gone to a Catholic University. It was the best course I had in college. I wonder if it is given today.
Probably not.
