VTA light-rail extension to Los Gatos: $175 million for 200 new riders

How do they justify that?

"Shovel ready jobs!"

Biden and Pelosi both spun tales on the order of 200 million Americans going out of work every month and tax cuts for the upper 1% of $10trillion or some such.

These are very dim bulbs. They have NO CONCEPT. It is all Monopoly money and statistics to them. "Money is no object!"

“Light rail” vs. “heavy rail” (often elevated). It comes down to whether the power source comes from above or below.

Nothing to do with the weight of the cars, the cost of the project, the amount of real estate consumed by the tracks and supports.

But to the public “light rail” sounds like a nice compromise. Much better than that “heavy rail”.

Oh way, light rail can’t run in Houston when there are 3 inches of rainfall. Oh well.
