All human beings everywhere are descended from Adam and Eve and all are subject to the same laws of G-d. Obedience to these Laws would alleviate all our problems.

I believe this as well. All men are spiritually equal. But it does not follow that all civilizations are equal. Observation bears out that Western Civilization is the most successful schema for human living in the history of the world. To ignore this fact is futility.

How does the quote go? “Age and treachery always trumps youth and enthusiasm.” Something like that.

I know but the folks in South Africa in particular are so bad that I bet they will claim the Boers as their “own” one day & claim that the notion that they were a White people is simply White propaganda. Those folks are so blinded by their anti-white perspective. I think they will have to alter the Vortrekker Monument first to cover up the Caucasian features of the murals & statues. I would not put it past them to do so as they like to claim other peoples as we have seen with their assertions about Egyptian civilization.

You need to read Victor Davis Hanson’s book Carnage and Culture for an alternate view of things. VDH’s concept of the Western Greco-Roman free man fighting for his homestead is at odds with Diamond.

"Boer" is simply the Dutch word for "farmer" (like German Bauer or English "boor").

Regarding the apparent lack of inventions and technology in Africa... well, even as a little kid I had the notion that living in a widely varying climate made people innovative. Those who survived innovated ways to stay warm through icy winters and hydrated through hot, dry summers. They survived long enough to reproduce, and their kids improved on the innovative parents’ innovations and they survived long enough to reproduce. After thousands of years of this cycle, the Europeans brought many good things to life. And having the Christian message of love to fill their spiritual needs, meant Europeans got less bogged down in bizarre superstitions that kept Africans and American Indians literally in the dark about real world problems and solutions. Really, there is no reason for humans to waste their energy worshiping mountains and animals.

"Egypt was basically Semitic..."

I believe that the Egyptians thought of themselves as non-black, and non-african. For one thing, there was a brief dynasty of black pharaohs who were conquerors and seen as outsiders, and if you look at some of the painting that survived in tombs, like the one below from King Tut's tomb, you can see how they depicted forghien warriors that we would clearly identify as black African. What is particularly interesting is that the textile patterns on the Africans that King Tut's charriot is overrunning, are identical to patterns you could find today in sub-saharan Africa.

Well, it would seem that even a fairly stupid person would notice that a round rock was rolling farther down the hill than all the others.

At some point in thousands of years they must have seen a rock slide and pick up on that fact.

You wouldn't have to be very clever to figure out that ‘round’ might be a better way to move things.

But no, as far as they ever got was dragging things around lashed to sticks.

Close all the grocery stores in the ghetto, thus removing the supply of stolen shopping carts, and you will again see the stick dragging method in common use.

As you point out, the invention of the wheel is obvious, and certainly occurred to everyone. It was the concept of an axle that was apparently not so obvious.

Both axels and wheels are round. Once they understood ‘round’ they should have figured it out.

There then is just taste, preference, and what do we call the moment’s consensus tastes?

Rudyard Kipling called them the Gods of the Marketplace.

AS I PASS through my incarnations in every age and race,
I make my proper prostrations to the Gods of the Market Place.
Peering through reverent fingers I watch them flourish and fall,
And the Gods of the Copybook Headings, I notice, outlast them all.

...

No I disagree. The word “boer” with a small b is a Dutch word for farmer but the term Boer [ with a capital B ] came to denote the Eastern Border Afrikaans speaking descendents of the Trekboers. It really matters not one bit whatever the term “boer” meant before it was applied to & adopted by the Boers [ Boer people / Boerevolk / Boer folk / Boer Nation. etc. ] during the 1700s because the term Boer with a capital B denotes a people who were renown for being Africa’s first freedom fighters & having established several Boer Republics [ which history clearly denoted as Boer Republics & the people who created them as Boers ] before being conquered by the British after the second Anglo-Boer War wherein more than 50% of the Boer child population died in the British run concentration camps. The Boer people started out as a pastoral & rustic people but they are not just a bunch of farmers. It would be like pointing out that the term Serb just means “sir” thereby implying that there are no Serbs or that the Serbs are just sirs / men. The Boers have had long hard fought struggles to maintain their distinct identity in the face of strong pressures. Not least of which from the Cape Dutch descended Afrikaners whose leadership routinely tries to co-opt or assimilate the Boer Nation.

I read that experts consider one of the "greatest" inventions in history the wheelbarrow.

Surprised me.

I thought it was intuitive, too.

I am getting tired of these young whippersnappers telling me what old guys should do. I am fast approaching old age. Being 83 I know we didn't do everything just right but we tried. The critical word is tried. If we didn't get it right the first time we tried again until we had it perfect, so leave those duffers to their paper pants, and walkers, let them snooze in their favorite chair, and make sure you don't get his soup too hot. He has paid his dues, in Normandy, Inchon, The Triangle, and some future old guys are still paying their dues. Hopefully they will learn to duck in order to come home and become an old duffer.

Actually another point I wanted to make was that, outside some of the Mediterranean coast, Caucasians/Europeans were largely savage and backward UNTIL Rome spread Christianity through it and itself fell. I can’t really account for oriental achievement but whites didn’t do much outside Greco-roman cultures without Christianity.
