Gingrich: House Republicans should stop negotiating with President Obama
The Daily Caller ^ | 11/29/2012 | Alexis Levinson

Posted on 11/29/2012 9:19:06 AM PST by sheikdetailfeather

Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich said Wednesday that House Republicans should stop negotiating with President Barack Obama and congressional Democrats on the fiscal cliff, saying that by doing so, they give Obama all of the leverage in the talks.

“One of the things I would say to House Republicans is to get a grip,” Gingrich said in a speech at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, Calif.

“They are the majority. They’re not the minority,” he said, enunciating the words as if explaining the concept to someone who did not understand it. “They don’t need to cave in to Obama; they don’t need to form a ‘Surrender Caucus.’”

“So my number one bit of advice to the congressional Republicans is simple: Back out of of all of this negotiating with Obama. The president is overwhelmingly dominant in the news media. You start setting up the definition of success finding an agreement with Obama, you just gave Obama the ability to say to you, ‘Not good enough,’” Gingrich said.

The spineless Republicans will cave in to the “Democrats” under the intense propaganda campaign by the communist media. When the country falls to pieces and the revolution begins, the media talking heads should be hunted down with dogs.

Newt should run for RNC chair. That way he can force them to do the right thing.

So true. Newt would have been twice the candidate that Romney ever was.

I have to laugh at all the MSM talking heads using the words “middle class” ( assuming there also is a lower class and an upper class, rather radical for the USA)tax break.

We need to preserve the “ middle class” says POSHITUS?

Well I have some news FOR YOU as an historian. Obama leads a fascist movement. It has been the goal of EVERY fascist movement in history to destroy the middle class along with its entrepreneurship, because their success stands in the way of establishing a socialist state, because entrepreneurs are by nature conservative, they have to respond to business concerns and adapt to them in the real world, not in some fascist Utopia prescribed by someone like Obama.

What Obama is REALLY saying as POSHITUS is that by taxing and running available capital OUT of the USA, running out the upper class or wealthy, THERE will be no capital available to middle class enterpreneurs for their businesses. This will lead to the devolution of the middle calss into poverty, and make the middle class into the maleable, dependent class that can be shaped and molded by fascism, just as happened in Germany and Italy in the 1920s and 1930s.

Fascism always has to destroy the middle class. Obama is destroying the middle class by working hard to create an image seeming to save it .

What a joke.

People should read a little fascist history in order to see that every fascist in history destroyed the entrepreneurial class in order to “save the middle class.” The destruction of the entrepreneurial class ALWAYS destroys the middle class, without exception.Obama knows this, which is why he is pursuing his present fiscal policy of “no budget” and “no fiscal cliff “ ( it would be the best thing that ever happened for freedom if we actually went over the fiscal cliff and it was Obama’s made deal anyway), and a war on capital via taxation.

POSHITUS AGAIN IS SAYING ONE THING WHILE DOING ANOTHER.

The GOP should not be negotiating with Obama. Let him campaign his ass off. Ignore POSHITUS.

The Repubs should just let the sequestration law go into effect and tell the People that Obama has made it clear that refuses to sign any law he doesn’t agree with - ergo, he liked this law; and who are they to nay-say Obama?

“Does Newt think the republican leadership (or anyone else) is going to listen to him?”

Yes, they should, because he’s right!

NO matter what anyone here thinks of Newt - he is viewed as a Losers loser... He lost to the eventual loser... and that's bad. Newt's voice has no meaning any more for the GOP.

Further - getting a "grip" would involve growing a backbone, which none of the GOP in CONgress seem to be interested in.

What they don't seem to want to accept:

If no deal is reached, and the nation plunges over the fiscal cliff - Republicans will be blamed. Period (Facts mean nothing).

If any deal is reached, every capitulation the GOP gives will be used against them in the next election. GOP loses no matter what.

So - since Republicans are going to be on the losing end no matter what, how about they grow a backbone and stand up for what is right. They literally have NOTHING to lose. But the USA has everything to gain.

I agree, somewhat.

Pubs should offer no tax/spend bills, nor any amendments to Rat tax/spend bills. Pubs should tell the American people that the Rat policies will bankrupt America, yet that is what America voted for, so in order to avoid voting for bankruptcy, & to avoid voting against the wishes of the People, Pubs will only vote PRESENT on tax/spend bills until such time as either the country goes broke, or the Rats make significant, immediate cuts to spending.

This gives the Rats & Obama complete responsibility for what follows. Rats cannot say Pubs blocked Rat recovery efforts, nor can they say Pubs played any part in the resulting misery & decline. If there is any (bogus) compromise, Rats will rightly share the blame with Pubs, while the MSM will make sure America believes it was a bipartisan failure, mostly inspired by Pubs refusal to be flexible.

I know Pubs like Boehner & co. will not do this, because, truth is, their position of power is more important to them than the country, & spending money insures their hold on power.

Thank the Lord, Newt is still there. He knows how to organize and multi task programs. OHHH wish he could went one on one with OBama. Been fun to see part of his brian clobber the radicals. They NEED to keep Newt’s ideas-Don’t negotiate or cave on your principles. Tell Obama, go to hell in a political way.

—>BUT, there are Republicans who are working toward some of the same aims as Obozo.

So right on! And those same ones will begin to write stories about those who are trying to get the Conservative platform saved. Give an hour; Brit Hume or Eyelash Guy on Fox will be trashing Newt or anyone like that who is giving the House republicans solid advice..

You are correct. Newt use far better tactics to accomplish welfare reform, tax cuts and budget cuts. He had the benefit of a GOP Senate, but he faced a far more talented foe in the White House in Clinton. He took major heat but got the bills he wanted passed. Our side needs to play to win, not play to be liked.

After all the heat Newt took, and the govt shutdowns, we maintained our majority by the same margins in 1998 and before. Taking political heat does not mean electoral losses.

I was in support for Newt in doing the government shut down-people were mostly not for it-they were all running scared that we would lose further by allowing the dems to describe us. Sometimes, people get so wobbly. When the media hates a person, you know that person is going to make some changes. Like Palin, Newt and some others. Newt got a lot done. He wanted to be back to start with term limits legislation.

Well, what we are doing isn’t working, so...perhaps this has some merit? If we step aside and let Obama own it, would the demos kill each other?

Not only that, but Gingrich faltered badly in negotiations with Clinton.

He's no example regarding negotiations.

Yes; definitely in public. Didn’t Hussein promise in ‘08 that everything would be televised on C-Span? The public should be able to see the shuckin’ ‘n’ jivin’ that blue-lipped abomination is doing. (P.S.: I don’t mean that in a bad way.)
