HOW SECRET NEGOTIATIONS PLAY INTO THE DEMOCRATS’ HANDS
Powerline ^ | November 29,2012 | JOHN HINDERAKER

So now John Boehner is angry that the White House leaked a one-sided version of his latest conversation with President Obama to the press:

Speaker John A. Boehner of Ohio and Republican leaders are fuming after a late night phone call with President Barack Obama was leaked to the press, despite an agreement that it would not be, according to several GOP aides.

As if this should come as a surprise! It sounds as though Boehner and his aides are starting to get a clue:

Republicans believe the president is more interested in raking them over the coals publicly than striking a deal privately.

Really! They’ve figured that out, have they? I guess they noticed that the Democrats never put forth any sort of plan to deal with the nation’s collapsing finances, but instead demagogue the issue by pretending that the only thing going on is that Republicans are trying to protect rich people. In case they missed it, Jay Carney kicked them again today:

Carney disputed the notion that progress has not been made, but said GOP leaders must agree to raise tax rates on wealthy, not just other revenues.

The slow-learner Republicans say they are catching on to Obama’s intentions:

Boehner] said Geithner offered no specifics about spending and entitlement cuts, which leads him to believe the administration is not serious about reaching a balanced deal Of course the Democrats aren’t serious about “reaching a balanced deal.” Of course they don’t have any intention of cutting either discretionary spending or entitlements. Is John Boehner really the last person in the world to figure this out? Nevertheless, despite the blindingly obvious fact that the Democrats are incapable of acting in good faith, Boehner says “he remains hopeful that a deal can be reached in the coming weeks.”

The solution is very simple.

If the meetings are open, not secret, then there can be no leaks.

That prevents the one sided false leaks that cause ulcers.

It's not going to be pretty, when magical thinking meets stark reality.

Good Point, the GOPers should just release both sides of the communications within milliseconds.

Boehner is too stupid to learn what ever sane conservative and independent knows, you can’t trust the marxist in the Red House. Plain and simply.

You can’t trust Harry Reid, another powermonger.
You can’t trust Nancy Pelosi, a pure nutcase.

The same for Debbie Wasserman-Schulz, Von Hollen, Kerry, Schumer, or any other Democrat senator and most congressmen.

However, Boehner is basically useless so unless the Republicans get new blood with balls into their leadership ranks, the GOP is doomed to being a political eunuch.

I suspect that the Tea Party will eventually overtake the GOP as a power bloc/organization, and eventually absorb it like a Venus Flytrap absorbs a fly.

Right now, would someone please send Boehner a pair of balls, and not those for tennis.

Freepers need to prepare. If GOP agrees to tax increases and delayed (no cuts) spending cuts, economy will go into depression as Obamacare and new taxes kick in. Deflation where cash is king. Fed will immediately print money to fight deflation, but dollar will drop in value, and we have currency inflation as raw material, food, oil, and commodity prices inflate during a depression. How to prepare? Cash and precious metals. Cash to take advantage of deflation and precious metals to preserve buying power from inflation. For real SHTF add guns, bullets, food, water and emergency supplies as well as hard cash (bank holidays mean ATM, credit cards, checks etc are frozen) for up to six months worth of use and spending.

The Repubs will fold. They always do. I do not trust them to do anything right anymore. The Repub leadership needs to be replaced, down to the last person. The Dems will get everything they want, the country will get screwed.

Duh....Boehner nees to buy a clue. Obama is already running against the Republicans, trying to capture the House in the ‘14 election. Playing dirty to win the next election is what Democrats do best. They know they can count on the Obamedia to tar and feather the GOP in every election.

It’s the same old trap over and over again: Obama and Axelrod keep any talks that could even remotely damage Obama, private...

...Meanwhile future “listening sessions” about suggestions to supposedly reduce the debt will be public, with the onus solely on Republicans to come up with solutions (solutions which will then be used to demagogue those same Republicans in vicious ads when they run for re-election).
